Where to source rear shock absorbers from?

Hi everyone,

My 22 reg LR has just hit 80k miles, and my rear shock absorbers have given up the ghost.
A friend of mine has offered to fit them, but he's been unable to get ahold of any.

Has anyone on here done the same job? And if so, where did you source the parts from?

Main dealer is best to get just the parts from have noticed a site called Auto doc also if that helps

You can even get them from Amazon.

£214 for one shock absorber is a bit steep, i don`t think even the main stealer will charge anymore ?

hi, I think Brown and Gammons MG may have them in stock as trhey seem to keep the more common parts

My 21 LR is showing signs of shock wear, only had it a day or two and doubt it’s bad enough to take it back, but I agree shopping for them is proving elusive, not to mention very pricy. As they are a very simple design, not geometric and the top mount is interchangeable, I’m going to tap up my trade contacts to start finding similar shocks from another car.

Thanks for the replies. I got in contact with MG and they and they can supply them for £238.

It would be interesting to see if they are available for cheaper though.

The part number is 10848691 (interchangeable?)

From what I’ve googled, if that’s OEM parts (and two of them!) that sounds fair enough. Ali Express was about £150 delivered.
I’m looking into VW Golf/Jetta equivalents as they’re very close.

Brown & Gammons, very established dealer are £233 for two posted, so that seems to be the deal unless you’re really happy to wait. I think my issue is I’ve gone from a 6 month old car to a 4 year old one so it’s inevitably a bit tired in comparison, but still new enough to deserve the right parts!
