Try as I might, I cannot find why the cable for charging from a 13A socket is called a "Granny" cable. Is it because your old granny wouldn't know how to use a charger but could plug her car in like plugging in her kettle? Does anyone know the definitive answer to this question?

My understanding is the tenuous link to how slow it is. The other I have heard is it’s for use when at your grannies.

It's a bit like cyclists calling the small cog on a triple chainset the 'granny'...

It absolutely is the reason that you have it in your car to charge up when you are at your grans visiting. Mad I know but true......

It appears to be just one of the names that has been adopted by the EV gang !.
Just like GOM for the predicted range indicator on the dash panel !.
GOM from GuessOMeter......because it is always a guess.
