My MG5 (2022, non facelift) has an issue with front wipers and washers not operating.
I can hear a "relay" clicking when operating the stalk.
Fuse 30 under the bonnet is not blown.

I believe this happened in the recent heavy snow/frost, which may have jammed the wipers.
Nearest dealer is several hour's drive away, so not an ideal option.

Any tips/suggestions?

I found this
But some "encouragement" didn't seem to help.

EDIT - I believe the clicking is coming from the wiper motor itself.
I did some minor disassembly and removed the connector from the motor.
The clicking sound no longer happened (tested with bonnet closed).
Replaced the cable and the clicking is back.

Seems quite likely a drive connection has sheared in the motor/gearbox assembly.

Sounds like something a local mechanic could diagnose for you.

cheers, yeah I've gone ahead and ordered a used motor and linkage from eBay... will either DIY or get a local mechanic to fit. Pretty disappointing that it would break like that. Never had that happen with any other cars.

Just circling back. the ebay replacement sorted the problem.
Cost £80 including fast postage, and was a pretty easy DIY job.

I called my nearest dealer who said warranty repair bookings were into april now (3 months...).
Warranty isn't worth much with that sort of delay!
