X Power in Sport Mode

Amen to the Impreza, had one myself in the 90’s, awesome car, loved the flat 4 exhaust note.

During my 11,667 mile ownership, I reckon I have probably been in Sport mode for about 500 miles.
Maybe less.

Shocking I know.

Well it was to me.

I usually flick it into Sport when something or somebody needs 'dealing' with, or the conditions require the added surety of the 4wd system.

I seem to remember using it for longer stretches as well, but on the whole, she remains resolutely in Normal mode....

Which is a bit of a waste really, but still plenty quick enough for daily driving.

I think my rationale is that I'm trying to eek out a few extra miles from the remaining available battery.

Not shy in deploying Sport when required though tbf, twice I "needed" it today, to make sure I was first away from a very slippery roundabout GP.

I suppose what it really boils down to, for the most part, is that I just need to get about sensibly and without fuss.

This, the X Power does very well indeed, but it can also be 'daft as a brush' when called upon.

Does anyone here leave their car in Sport All the time?

Im just about on 290 miles so far, but what you say is clearly sage advice, I’m doing the same myself and not just because I’m new to it. I’ve had 3 cases of “having to deal with someone” on my commute, each time I’ve just planned my move, prepped the mode, found the safe passing place and the matter is dealt with in the blink of an eye.
I’ve owned many fast vehicles, several bikes included, all of which had compromises - anything from unforgiving suspension, short power bands, excessive noise and drama, concerns about breaking, and braking, lairy body styles etc, etc, but the XP has none of those issues. In many ways it’s the safest all round vehicle I’ve ever owned.
Mind you I drive at 125 for a living. Believe me (and you’ll know this if you’ve ever done a track day), 125 feels like nothing special in some environments. It’s only when you slow down to 90, 50 or 30 mph it feels like you’re then standing still. Plus in my job speeding is very heavily frowned upon and potentially career harming, so it’s dribbled down into my road driving.
Stick religiously to any limits from 20-60mph, have your fun in the National zones.
And I’m nearly retired…

Back in the day I drove Royal Mail vans, nothing was faster than them in the 80s!!
Drove these things for 9 years, sadly all gone now. New ones are electric but as trains they aren’t a patch on the classic. Love this period ad for them:

We need a 'rally' version of the XPower, that has an adjustable front-rear bias (electronic) diff.

Could be called the MG XPower WRX STi Type R Limited Edition, exclusively available in blue with gold wheels ... And yes, my OH had a Scooby in the 1990's.
