Hi everyone, my first post. I'm about to confirm the order of an XPower. The delivery is coming into the UK from the factory in a couple of weeks apparently. I have a choice of three colours as the order is from stock. I love the premium racing green but I am worried about keeping it clean, and as this is a lease car I am even more concerned that it will mark easily and I'll get stung at the end of the lease.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? The other options from this stock delivery are pearl black or Camden grey. I've seen several helpful posts on cleaning the matt green but I'd love to here from an owner who is a few months (and a mucky winter) into ownership.

Thanks

Matthew

We're about to bite the bullet on an x-power too and are going to risk the racing green as it's the standout colour for us for the car. Found a local detailer who is hopefully going to give it a decent ceramic coating to help preserve the finish for a few years.

Matt. 🙂👍

Hello and a big welcome to the forum 👍😊

Well I'll have to come in and stick up for Camden Grey 🤣😁😉

It's a great metallic finish that shows the paint flake in the sun but not any swirls.

Any minor scuffs / swirls / scratches / bird poo etc. can easily be polished out and resealed with your favourite wax / sealant of choice. It also IMHO looks a great a combo with the black glossy plastic trim of the rest of the car (sills / wing mirrors / rear side quarters etc...)

It's also a very stealthy colour if that's your thing 👍

"I wonder what he's going to say?"🤣

If you want to 'Stick Out' like a sore thumb,
Get the Racing Green.

Being the flagship colour and the car that was taken to the Goodwood Festival of Speed, anybody out on the road who knows anything about Performance Cars, will bow down and doth their cap at your Superior Performance.

Unless of course, they have Superior Performance, which to be honest, will be extremely rare, where they may then just look down upon you in your tragic, slow, Chinese offering.

In the six months I've owned my car I've yet to come across anybody with more power in my local area.

I did see an Audi RS6 Performance yesterday, on the M5 South with 621BHP, 0to60 in about 3 seconds and £112,000 if your interested.

I digress.

If you want to stick out like a sore thumb with a massive Neon Sign on top of that Shouting "Look at ME! Look at ME!

Then that will be your Beautiful Volcano Orange.
Such a pretty paint to see in the flesh that really 'Pops' in the daylight.

Also that colour picks out the matching caliper covers and looks the absolute dogs danglies IMO.

Next up is the Beautiful Camden Grey.
Another paint colour that defies the 'budget' nature of this car.
Deep, lustrous and pretty, with all the metallic flecks being picked out by the light.

This is the colour I would have chosen if I had wanted to fly under the radar.
Blacking out your caliper covers ala @JonnyG will definitely see to that.

The Dynamic Red apes everything I've said up above.
It is a Beautiful colour, but if it was mine the Caliper Covers would have to be either blacked out, painted body, or painted Red.

Now onto the solid colours.

White really suits the X Power IMO and does look striking.
White cars still thrust me back into the mid 80's when I used to drool over my slightly older friends Ford Escort RS Turbo.

I still occasionally wake up now in my bed screaming "YOU LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY BASTARD"

The fact that our X Powers can simply annihilate the 0 to 60 time of that car gives me enough comfort to drift off back to sleep.
Oh and you wouldn't want to crash one either.

Black.
No.
Just NO.
Honestly, not mucking about.
Only a Sadist or anybody who has never had a Black Car, would buy a Black Car.

Fabulous Clean? Abso bloody lutely.
But not for very long and will show up everything.
Spending out on a ceramic coat will definitely help.
But still a NO from me.
I'm oot.

That I believe leaves us with the Beautiful Taliban Blue.

Yes I do know what it is called, I'm just hoping my Scottish friend has managed to read down this far and has a giggle.

Holborn Blue holds a special place in my heart because it was the very first MG4 I saw out on the UK roads in the flesh.

It to is a Beautiful Colour and also very striking out on the road.
The lady that owned it was happy to have a chat and that's the car that first pointed me towards the MG brand.

Not sure the caliper covers work against the blue either, but that, just as all the other words up above, are just my opinion.

Whichever colour you settle upon, you will not be disappointed.
(In the paint at least🤣)

SAIC have obviously made cost savings with the MG cars, but not at the factory where they are painted thankfully.

Have to say some colours are much easier to find in car parks than others, can't believe how many shades of bland, manufacturers have for their cars these days.

If you consider the doppler shift effect, any XPower will take on a blue hue when coming towards you and then turn red as it disappears into the distance ;)

I've been driving my new green Xpower for 3 weeks. I as originally going to go with orange but when I saw it in the flesh thought it looked cheap. I won't drive a white, black or grey car on principal. I almost chose blue, but my wife wanted green, so of course I agreed. Now I have it I'm glad I agreed with her.
I am finding that the matt surface never really looks especially dirty (and the car is already quite dirty as it shows up on the shiny black trim).
Without exception, friends, neighbours and even passers-by compliment me on the colour.
I'll no doubt save lots of money (I'm originally from Yorkshire) and get plenty of exercise by hand-washing rather then the automatic wash, so that's a Brucy Bonus.
I just hope it doesn't get bumped or scratched, as even the dealer said that could be an expensive day out.
