Found an annoying little chip and need some touch up paint. Anyone know of a good York White one?

Thanks, that helps a lot. There are loads on eBay.

I don't know how it happened. How could something hit it down there?

I feel your pain, this was mine after 3 weeks. The garage touched it up with what they said was the right paint when it was in for a software update but it looks awful now and imho grey. I have just ordered a chipex kit to try and will be sanding out the garages botch and using chipex kit but will be trying a bit under the bonnet first to check paint colour match. Will post here how I get on.

I wonder if I'm wasting money on a cheap kit. Yours does look really bad though, shocking that the garage thought that was okay.

The factory paint code and all other details of the car ( trim etc ) are all on the silver / chrome label l, when you open the drivers door.
It’s on the bodyshell under the door catch receiver.
Quoting this code assures you get the best match.

Has someone washed the windscreen and tried to lift the wiper out of the way without putting it into the maintenance position?

I've only had the hose on it once, and I don't think anyone else has tried to clean it. I've order a Karcher pressure washer to properly clean it up.

That's the start of a slippery slope. Pressure washer then snow foam gun, snow foam, short pressure washer gun, wash foam, aqua wax, drying towels......

I wonder if there's a car wash addict's self help group?:ROFLMAO:

I've ordered the snow foam gun as well 😅

And the 10m hose

I'm going to stop there though, the plan is to just foam and hose it down maybe once a month or two, depending on how dirty it gets. The only time I'm laying my hands on it is if I need to scrub to get some dirt off, I'm not going to polish it or anything. I'll probably get the ceramic coating renewed after a couple of years and it can be deep cleaned then.

Re touch up paint, i got the "official" one from the dealer. It was around £25 (roughly converted from Norwegian kroner). I also looked at aliexpress et.al but i couldnt be arsed not knowing what i would get..

For reference my sticker says 5WSB for the paint code. I can't find an "official" kits.

I can verify once i pick mine up, waiting for another set of rims to arrived before i go there.

That damage has been caused by somebody, lifting up the wiper arm, to wipe the windscreen clean 🧽.
When you try to lift the arm clear of the glass, the back of trips arm hits the back edge of the bonnet.
The paint on the edge is really thin and does not take a lot to remove it.
The wipers park much lower than the bonnet line, great for the design and less wind noise but it makes lifting them out of the question.
Manufactures therefore build a “service mode” setting into the car.
This means that in service mode, it parks the wipers clear of the bonnet edge.
This problem was on the ZS EV also and many people have broken the paint as a consequence.
Lots of other manufacturers have a built in “service mode” for the wipers available to owners now.

Thanks. You could well be right, but I can't find who did it. I have a camera at home and I installed a dashcam with parking mode, but neither of them seem to have caught the act of doing it.

The S5 does have the service mode in the menu.

Slightly OT, but as someone who is thinking of buying an S5 in the not too distant future, can I ask whether accessing that menu is how to "park" the windscreen wipers so that they do not hit the bonnet when lifted off the windscreen?

On my pre-facelift MG5 you simply push down once on the wiper stalk after switching the car off and the arms immediately move to the vertical position and stay there.

Sorry I'm not sure. Have a look at the manual: https://www.mg.co.uk/sites/default/files/2025-04/MGS5-EV-Owner-Manual.pdf

I didn't see mention of using the stalk with the car off, but the S5 doesn't really turn off normally anyway, not until you lock the doors. The service mode seems to be talking about replacing the wiper blades but presumably you could clean them as well.
