The Ultimate MG5 "Real World" Energy Consumption Thread

4.3 seems to be my consistent longer term figure too.

4.3 for me too. June plus last week of May. Higher mileage than usual. Cornwall holiday for 3 weeks with free vend so made use of it😉 . 5LR

Here's mine for June.
A mix of dual carriageway, A & B roads.
Car was always in normal mode KERS 2.
In the hot weather air con switched on to minimum (LO) and auto.

My June figures will be distorted because my totals were reset when the service was done on the 22nd. I can say that my average from 1-22 June was 4.3 miles/kWh.
Here's the June picture. It only represents the last 8 days for the reasons mentioned above but I'd hazard a guess the full month would have worked out at 4.4 miles/kWh.

Glad to be able to finally join this thread 😂

This is for the last 11 days I've had the vehicle, having covered 698 miles - really enjoyed it!

I've been very fortunate that my usage pattern over these 11 days has meant that I've managed to keep my charging solely in the cheap period of Octopus Go (7.5p). This won't always be the case but I can't stop smiling when 698 miles has cost me just shy of £15. Honestly can't believe it.

Around 400 of those miles have been free flowing motorway miles (cruise at 70 where possible), and it's also worth pointing out I had it in ready mode for 2 hours whilst not driving to keep the heater on one night which skewed the average speed and Miles/kWh down a bit. To be honest, still very happy with the 3.9 considering the amount I've done on the motorway.

Just have to reset my expectations when the winter comes 👍🏻

These are my stats for June (the first full month of owning the MG5. There are a couple of medium length trips in there, one about 90 miles round trip and one about 140 miles round trip, plus a lot of local running about to the shops etc.

EDIT: forgot to say: I always drive in Normal, KERS 3 and the air con was on a lot of the time during June.

This is for month of June.
Adding a bit more info to this.
MG5 SR
Costs
257.3kw with home charger @ 0.2283p/kW = £58.74
84KW using Bonnet using IONITY rapid chargers 25p/kw = £21
BP Pulse, Gridserve, and others = £21.16. I did not keep track of the KWs at these ones.
The rest of my charging was either done at my golf club or Tescos for free. 379kw in total.
So total costs £100.90

I'm a Taxi driver mainly dropping off and picking up from Heathrow. I live in Henley-on-Thames and as there is a speed limit of 50 mph between here and Heathrow I get the best mileage per kw. I had it up to 4.4/kw until a couple of days ago, but over the last few days I've mainly been dropping off and picking up at Gatwick and Luton, doing 70mph most of the way.

Hope this helps.

The diversity of use represented by these submissions is perfect (y)
It's exactly what I'd want to see as a potential new owner.

Also always have it in Economy mode with Kers 3

Hi, I can't seem to add to 3 of 3, so I have added it here( if someone could advise how I add to this bit of the forum( economy).
Anyway our MG5 is just over a month old bought 26th May, did 90 miles till June 3x 200 mile trips to and from greater London rest of mileage just suburban.
We only use ECO and Kers 3 ( when we remember).
Re set for trip to Barnet from Fareham and a few local miles 1 HR slow traffic/ stopped traffic around Heathrow

Here's mine for the past 6'ish weeks! Similar to everybody else's I think!

We live in North Devon and do weekly longer trips to Bristol so half motorway and half rural roads, including some very steep hills through Lynton, Lynmouth, and Porlock. Other than that it's a mix of faster rural roads and country lanes!

Generally keep the car in eco but change kers continually throughout a journey.

That’s actually quite impressive.

My June figures. This included a 250 (3.7 kWh consumption) mile road trip at 70mph which is why the miles per kWh is down on the May figures.

My 2 penn'orth..
Since April 1st I have driven about 2100 miles, mainly around home on the Isle of Wight but including 2 longer trips, one of 400 miles return and one of 500+ miles return, this latter journey to Devon - with lots of hills! Overall I am getting 4.6 mpkwh, with a range difference of 3.8 (fully loaded with 4 adults on 400 mile round trip) to 5.0 (246 miles around the IW on 94% of the battery) on individual charges. This is with a Standard Range MG5. I am very pleased with these figures overall.

What was you average speed on the 400 and 500 mile trips?

Average speed - I haven't a clue. On the 400 miler I was held up in traffic jams for about an hour on the northbound trip and there was some pottering about on the southbound trip. The Devon 500 miler was spread over 5 days and was a lot of pottering about.. I don't think average speed is a relevant statistic for either of these trips.

Ok. I just wondered as I have noticed when travelling on motorways at 50 mph I get around 4.5 kw/m but travelling at 70 mph this comes down to about 3.6 kw/m.

Ah yes. This seems about right. I tend to drive "very relaxed" on motorways at about 60. This seems to be a reasonable compromise on getting there in a reasonable time and getting good consumption. I never go anywhere in a hurry. I do though keep a lookout for lorries creeping up on me and then get out of their way!
