MG ZS EV Shipping Updates

I whole heartedly agree with your post jsand59, and we all know who you're referring to on here don't we, someone who works for Chorley group and who just happens to appear on the podcast as well!!!
I don’t think it is just Chorley Group. There are a number of large companies that still have stock orders and are able to dodge the fine.

MG UK seem to have decided to favour the selected big dealerships over the faithful small friendly dealers. My dealer was originally Austin Rover and sold the original MG’s. They have MG in their blood and MG treat them like this.

Unfortunately, somebody is being given the wrong info here. Every car is TBA according to the official MG line, if it isn't built and on its way.

Tusker say late September for my January order, but dealer has TBA.
Do you think there’s any chance “TBA” where MG are concerned, means “To Be Allocated”? Makes it sound a bit more positive.

My delivery date was initially in August :)ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:), so I know by the time mine arrives, I'll probably be too old to drive any more!
However, I too get a courtesy email communication each month from my (albeit fairly small) dealer. It's nice to know I'm still on their books, but I almost wish I didn't hear from them, as at least no news is good news. As it is, each email just reiterates the same sad story - no sign of car, vague information from MG and nothing more to add.
It'll be the same every month for the rest of the year at least, of that I'm sure.
You're lucky.....I've only had 2 emails from my dealer in 8 months. The only time I get a response is if I email them first.

Found where my car is - it is in this shed awaiting more parts. At least I know what TBA means now.

I ordered my car in January , just after placing my order the sales representative left.

I haven’t had any communication from the garage with a update on my vehicle.
They didn’t even tell me the sales representative has left.

I know what you mean, loyalty accounts for nothing nowadays in this world unfortunately. Like you said its disgusting the way mg are treating a loyal dealer like yours who have stayed true to Austin/Morris, BL, Rover MG and now MG for the last 50+years.
Incidentally unfortunately not all large dealerships are treated equally, because if they were I'm sure I would be driving my se lr by now😢 Obviously it is only dealers who have large brown noses that get preferential service.

Probably "To Be Assembled" 😅 . I think my car still looks like a jigsaw..pieces everywhere.

I recall them not being the only ones. As someone suggested, there may be a minimum supply agreement or something. If I were ever to buy MG again, I'd certainly think twice about which dealer I choose for that reason alone. Unfortunately it's not in favour of the smaller businesses with little by way of deliveries.

Quick update to state that sadly I’ve cancelled my order. Having had the ETA for my Jan order shift from Apr to Sep (and with plenty from Nov/Dec still waiting) I’ve given up. Had MG just been honest and realistic with their ETAs, this could have been avoided. But in Jan, an Apr delivery was never feasible.

For those pending Vanarama orders, apparently they did receive a small batch of ZSs (first lot) which was unexpected and are hoping they are now coming on board.

Best of luck, I’m hoping to join the MG club in a couple of years with the 4 so you’ll see me around in that thread!

I ordered a White LR TC at the end of Feb as a salary sacrifice.
Originally told delivery in June, then August, then September, then October. Had an email Friday to say it’s now December 😡
Frustrating when the car park is filling up with Kona’s, Nero’s, etc and in the main they ordered after me.
Like others, if I had known the delay I would have chosen differently - maybe that’s the point!

I can understand your frustration. Seems like a few people have gotten tired of being mucked around, and have cancelled.

For myself there's no point to lose any discount - especially with other manufacturers increasing their prices in the interim, and September being so close. Presumably it's not worth your while to wait for the ZS and sell it, likely at profit, when your 4 arrives?

If you are going for the 4, keep your ear to the ground and see what comes out of the dealer launch on 25th July. The sooner you get in the queue, the better 😆. Good luck!

A couple of noteworthy ships with potential MGs:

  • Goodwood - Due 21st July - 14hrs in Shanghai
  • Leo Spirit - Due 5th Aug - 48hrs in Shanghai

48hrs is a lot of time to fill up with cars - A lot of people (myself included) seem to be [still] being told August / September - so maybe this is the vessel that'll be turning frowns upside-down.

We shall see.
Does anyone know of if it's possible to tell which are the two ships that MG/SAIC bought? I think in one of the recent podcasts, Miles had mentioned these weren't online yet. I just wondered if that status had changed recently, and whether it would enable them to send a larger shipment

Today's vanarama update text:

"Just a quick message to let you know the management team at Vanarama will be in direct contact with MG. So once we have the information on when we are likely to see these vehicles, we will be getting in touch with you ASAP. We will be advising the September date until the update comes in but this date could move past September."

All dates are just them guessing. They could have picked any month, it still would be a guess based on no information.

Official line from MG is still: TBA - they have stopped committing to estimating.

I wonder if Vanarama have the same contact at MG UK and get the same response as we do or if they get a more honest version: -

Sorry but there has been high demand for the MG ZS and whilst we are able to supply additional stock cars for our preferred dealers, you will have to wait even longer.

If you are not happy waiting then why not cancel your order with the agreed lower prices and we can sell you a stock car for immediate delivery from one of our preferred dealers at a higher cost. Alternatively we could order you a new one for more money without a sunroof.

Orders for new cars are only 4 months ( which is obviously a lie and you will actually have to wait over a year)

We currently estimate a delivery time of 9 months, but this could change, and if you ask next month we will say 10 months. This estimation is based on absolutely nothing as we have no clue what SAIC are manufacturing but it makes us feel better to say something instead of nothing and at least you get a bit of hope.

Try contacting your dealers in the next 2 months when they will be able to inform you absolutely nothing. If it makes you feel happy then why not ask them to make something up for you. They could promise you a December delivery which will not materialise because we are fulfilling orders to other countries that we like and have better profit margins with.
