MG ZS EV Shipping Updates

I too, have just received this. All. Ordered in November 2021 for a delivery in March/April 2023. Regardless of the global issues this is ridiculous.
I already have the charger installed so I can't cancel the order without paying back the grant. Looks like I'm stuck
I’m in the same fix as you. Originally told April 7th and had the charger fitted in March in readiness. April was cancelled about 10 days after the charger was installed and I was told September was likely. I’ve since heard that the November Vanarama order wasn’t actually placed with MG until late January. Every couple of weeks I get a text message from Vanarama telling me they’re trying to source my vehicle but as far as I know, no Vanarama orders have so far been fulfilled.

Vanarama can not meet our orders at price they have agreed with us so perhaps waiting on cancellations or price of the car coming down slightly to be able to make it financially viable but still its a joke to wait around another 8-9 months on a ficticious date
I’m actually getting more concerned about the sunroof. That was a fairly major a factor in picking the car and now MG are no longer making it on the new orders. I appreciate they have apparently said all existing orders will get one but how much of a backlog do they have that orders from 2021 will still be getting made at the start of next year before shipping over here (I’m assuming a March/April delivery will be built january(ish))? And presumably they will be making the new Trophy’s minus the sunroof at the same time.

I don’t want to be waiting another 8 months and the car turns up with no sunroof.

Not sure if this helps, but i ordered the car on the 22nd June, som reallly recently, and I hve been assured that my car (due to being ordered prior to 1st July) WILL be be with the sunroof.

I appreciate you may feel worried due to no feedback from your dealer, but I think you will be ok, whenever the car is produced. I guess you will not know until you contact your dealer and have this info relayed to you.

rest assured, the new car is connect, and has privacy glass, so if they start tossing you off, and tell you you are getting this, then question it

Well, just got an email from Octopus today.... What a farce. Another push... They have 300 effected orders...
I think the lease companies will never get the cars. TBH, I'm currently ith Elmo but this is too expensive so I think September come and I'm going to get a new used ice... Petrol is getting cheaper and post October electricity prices gonna go mad anyhow.

Some thought/questions surrounding this whole MG/Vanarama/Greehaus debacle:
  1. Why have none of the 400+ orders been fulfilled yet, when others who ordered later have?
  2. When exactly was the order placed?
  3. If Vanarama want people to cancel, how are they delaying the cars? It’s not like they can just be storing them somewhere in the hope that people cancel. That isn’t going to make them any money. Are they telling MG to put them at the back of the queue?
  4. How can MG tell dealers that it should be 9 months for delivery and Vanarama are now saying 17 months!?!
As I’ve mentioned before - Vanarama called me the day after I ordered to advise me to pay a little extra a month to secure one of their ‘pre-ordered’ cars. So was that a lie? If the order wasn’t actually placed until late January?

They are on trustpilot, maybe time to start leaving honest reviews of our experiences. Looks like there is at least one review on there relating to a ZS lease. We’re definitely not the only ones being fed bull**** by Vanarama - read some of their recent reviews about so-called ‘in-stock’ vehicles. Could also get in touch with BVRLA.

I contacted MG directly who confirmed order being placed end of Jan when i had actually placed my order with Vanarama mid November

Lease cars are def getting pushed baxk and there are few people who got put on pre order or older orders but not heard a single car delivered for both leasing companies

There must be some legal action we can take over and above a terrible review

I am collecting mine today after waiting 8 months. Anyone got any suggestions if I should get any extra packages while collecting the car? Any idea about any service packages etc? I will post a pic once I get home with the car. All the best and good luck to you all who are waiting for your car, I really hope it won’t be too long now till you get your car.

Good news! This is another November order from Chorley finally coming through, right? I hope it's an indication that MG are getting close to clearing 2021.

The Vanarama contract I signed allows Vanarama to increase the price of the monthly payments before i take delivery of the car if their costs have increased. Once I take delivery and start paying, that is the point at which they would not be able to increase the price. I am of course allowed to cancel the contract if this happens before i take delivery, but like eveyone else who oredered with them, i already have the wall charger installed, so would need to pay for this. I wouldnt be eligible for the grant so would have to pay the full price of the installation. I'm going to find out today how much I would owe.

so i dont buy the posts about Vanarama wanting me to cancel because they'd get more money if I did. They are within their rights to up the price if their costs have increased, but they haven't (yet). This is my biggest concern. I've waited 8 months already, another 8 months on the current estimate before it arrives. It would be better for then to get me on a different deal so they can shift the stock they have and re-allocate my car to someone else, but cancelling isn't really in their interests or mine.

I call today to MG and still TBA ordered in January 2022. They got no idea when coming.
Yes, and this is the most accurate information.

To those that recently have been given next year's dates by Vanarama: Again, they are making it up. It may well turn up later this year, but then again it could be summer next year. The truth is they've set expectations to get people off their back, it isn't based on any concrete information on factory progress etc. It's a guess.

I can't see how their costs have increased as they ordered the cars at a given list price, no doubt minus a bulk order discount, and possibly with the government grant. No mention elsewhere that MG have increased prices for existing orders.

The cynic in me says that they are giving/selling our cars to somebody else.
Normally if a dealer changes and sells to somebody other than the original customer they are smacked with a £1500 fee or whatever it was.
With a lease car, the Lease company (in this case Vanarama) or their finance partner (in this case Novuna). Are the owner - they are the customer so once they receive a car - they can sell it, yes they would have to sell it as preowned, but they will still be selling it for higher than RRP at the moment, or at least higher than the RRP was when they ordered them.

Just seems a bit of a coincidence that it has suddenly jumped to 8-9 more months (which is how long MG say the lead time is).

Has anyone had any luck getting the MG order number from Vanarama?

Morning all, as per the January order issue, I ordered my car on the 19th December and thought that was the date it went in, when I spoke to the MD for the dealership and he had a look, it said late January, which I queried? He said it was placed on order in December and the January date was MG confirming the order, which I guess maybe true as it seems other people have been told they have a late January date order as well?

You may be right. The current Vanarama quoted price for orders on ZS EVs placed today is £110 more per month and £2000 more up front for the identical deal. Its also quoting a 8-10 month lead time which isn't drastically more than I'm going to have to wait for an order placed 8 months ago.
The reduction in the government grant will be having an effect on the Vanarama quoted price, as will inflation (Vanarama's operating costs will have increased over the past year due to staff wages, and other costs). So I'm not necessarily surprised by the increase. But unless the price MG has charged Vanarama has increased, Vanarama shouldnt pass on those additional costs to their customers. Maybe this is a tactic to try and move people across to pricier deals so they can re-sell my car at the higher price. They were very quick to ask if I wanted to cancel and if I wanted to be put through to the Sales team!

No sign of an order number. I called MG in York this morning - they have none available but do have 2 MG5s available from September. They were surprised by the Vanarama delays so something is definitely going on at the Vanarama end rather than just blaming MG. It would be a big financial hit for me to cancel the order but like I said in my earlier post, Vanarama can increase the price at any stage before delivery so its not guaranteed that I'm going to keep this deal in 8 months time, but the contract says this is only if the cost of the car increases, nothing in there about Vanaramas operating costs. So maybe they can't increase the price unless MG do. Going to have another read of the contract!

I know that if you cancel the Vanarama order and have already had the home charge point installed then you are liable to repay them the costs.... BUT surely with the dates slipping so much, and yet knowing cars have been delivered due to this thread, there must come a point where it is Vanarama not fulfilling the contract in a timely manner and therefore it becomes void and can be cancelled without having to repay the price of the charge point. I assume if Vanarama cancel the contract then you wouldn't need to repay it, so maybe they are just delaying in the hope the customer cancels it.

Any solicitors on this thread?

I mean further slipping of a couple more months say September to even December was expected BUT this is a joke! Unless of course they are just conjuring up a date with no real meaning to stop people chasing them. Until this latest development I understood that the delays were common place and didn't think that anything strange was going on, now this massive jump in ETA has got me thinking. But it may just be another finger in the air guess and the car may turn up much sooner, as has been the case for a lot of people.

Last time I spoke to Vanarama about three weeks ago they did say they had delivered one batch of ZS EV LR's to people who ordered really early on. I ordered mid November but I never got one!

I emailed Vanarama this morning after seeing people on here who also ordered back in Nov being told about March/April ETD. They neither confirmed nor denied this was the case for my order - just that they will let me know when the know more (seems they have no idea when mine will turn up).

Saw Elmo had a ZS EV Trophy available last night so jumped on that. A very expensive short term solution but I can't wait till March/ April next year. Surely it can't be that long a wait...

Did you get your MG ZS through Elmo? How is it? Good experience with them?
