I doubt if I'm the only one who feels compelled to watch countless inane videos mostly with the same largely uninformative content and sat here with eyes glazed over watching this one until I heard mention of what has been mentioned elsewhere by Miles as the 'extended range' model - here stated to be offered with a 150 kwh battery!

Have to put some of it in the boot?

I don’t think it’s going to come with 150kwh battery, if it did that’d be insane.

It comes with a 150kw motor, perhaps the reviewer was confused.
I think that too

But after watching the video, it might be the battery for the future 4wheels drive version that is planned for later, and that will have a more powerfull engine

There's just no physical way to contain a battery that size into the chassis.

Look at any other 4WD EV.
They don't increase the battery or "engine" size, they just add a second motor to the other end of the car.
The only way to get that amount of kWh into a car would be to both stretch the chassis and stack a second battery on top of the first. That might be feasable with a van body on the platform, though.

150 kWh is the maximum capacity for the Modular Scalable Platform on which the MG4 is based. It'll likely be a van/SUV that has that capacity.

As well as the longer wheelbase to help fit it in, which means that it will not be the MG4 body as is.

SAIC MG made alliances with Qingdao for a cheaper solid-state battery; and have been said that MG4 will be ready to have BaaS(Battery as a Service) for battery swapping in some models at ending 2023. And there is the 150 kWh battery like CATL CTP 3.0 "Qilin". A new battery, safer, and lighter, that is already tested and is gonna going to mass production at end of this year. That would be 621 miles range. (Extended range) Around 1000 Km. WLTP.

And the environmental impact for created a battery that can do 1000km but only do local trips and the occasional long distance.

How much of ICE car emisions are toxic compounds?

Enviromental impact in EV is less than ICE cars actually produce.
And car batteries are full recyclable for home energy uses. Only 5% of standard car batteries is lithium. And new batteries will have zero lithium. Those will be safer. And with better performance. Will be lighter. Therefore, with less weight will give more Wh.
1000 Km. in a country by now with few non-Tesla super fast chargers is a good idea.
And will remove completely from users the range-anxiety. IMHO.

If what is being quoted here is correct I shudder to think what the cost of a car with such a big battery will be or who would use it.

At a little more than twice the current 64kWh offering, I’d say twice as much as a medium size MG4? Basically slap another battery pack on?

And at 2x it will be cheaper than an E tron, xDrive , Model Y, Mustang Mach E, probably same price as Enyaq Coupe. At 4x the price it will still be cheaper than an EQS, model X, Taycan etc. A bargain I’d say!

I wouldn't call any car for say 50k a bargain. Its all relatove I guess. Same way as I'd never call a house for 800k a bargain but it all depends on what else is on offer at the time. Unfortunately EV's are too expensive for the average to low earners.

Ah, but the Gliterati in power don't want 'proles' like us to drive and get in their way when they are speeding to their next opportunity. 😉

Likely scenario in view of current reported development and objectives within battery manufacturing and a huge game changer re appeal of evs.

I agree what’s is need most of all is low priced EVs with a reasonable range not 1000 or so miles of range 1 in a hundred might need that and then surely not on a day to day basis.
