MG ZS EV Shipping Updates

Placed an order for a ZS EV Trophy Long range in Feb. Was told it would be delivered June, called in April and it had been pushed back to August. Called again back end of July - told September and a few days later November. Hadn’t heard anything from the dealer so decided to call up today to check if there have been any further push backs to be told they cannot find my order on the system anymore… waiting on another call back before i consider alternatives but basically they are saying MG must have cancelled my order. I find it hard to believe that the order would have been cancelled and the dealer not notified. Has anyone had any similar experiences??

If you purchased through an MG dealer, I'd ask for the 10-digit number from MG's central ordering system in reference to your booking, and use that to check with the manufacturer directly. MG haven't been cancelling orders (yet, anyway).

The last time a few people were told that MG had cancelled their orders, turned out that wasn't the case.

I was calling them to ask for my order number as communication on their side has been really poor. This is what they cant find apparently - there is no trace on their system of the order according to the dealer!

Had you paid a holding deposit? If Money has changed hands, I would be providing them with the details and get them to hunt out the papers trial for receipts and other ordering asscoiated paper work. I know most things are on the PC these days, but they will be a paper trail if monies have been exchanged.

And then I'd create a fuss and go in, in person if needs be. If they put your name against a car in MG's system (presuming it's an MG dealer), then I don't know what paper they're looking for - your name should be in there to see unless they've mucked up. And if your name wasn't entered, then where exactly were they looking when they were checking your car's status...?

No deposit paid, at the time of ordering i asked what the deposit was and they said they don’t take deposits which I found strange at the time! Dealt with 3 different sales people including the sales manager, its been weird the whole time. Debating looking for a different car now as they are saying to reorder there is a 16 month wait

This is what is confusing me, how can it just disappear!

Ended up purchasing an MG5 to fill the gap as petrol was costing too much but made it very clear i still wanted the ZS on order so my thinking is someone has messed up and deleted it on the basis of me buying the 5

I would suggest it was never ordered unfortunately. For what ever their reasons. I see you are up in the North East, must be a fair few other MG dealers you could visit. I would certainly steer clear of this one. They sound ‘Fly - By - Night’.

I suspect you are correct re: wait times for a newly ordered ZS, but up to you if you order one and wait, or look at the MG4 soon, and see if that works for you. Certainly likely to get one sooner, providing you stay away from your current Arthur Daily Dealer :)

It may well be they've fluffed up their end with you taking the 5, and put someone else's name to the car you would've had - no way to really tell. I don't know if MG can look into and see from their end if there's some kind of audit trail as to what number originally had your name to it, but you've nothing to lose by calling them up if you've got paperwork to support your order.

If that fails, then your dealer allocating you a cancellation may be the only way you get the old spec ZS with pan roof now. Or by chasing up for a cancellation elsewhere (I'd be inclined to find somewhere more competent):
So having now had confirmation that the MG4 Orange Trophy will now be mine in the next few weeks, I asked if the dealership had anyone lined up to take over the order for the ZS EV LRT in Dynamic Red that I have on order.

No was the answer, and he will be happy to transfer this order to anyone I can put him in touch with. The car was ordered in Feb 22, and will have the Pano roof.

If anyone is interested in taking this order on, by all means PM me and I will give you the contact details 👍

I’ve only ever seen good things about this dealer so it is such a shame! You are correct though there are a few more in the area - just been a complete and utter waste of time 😭
 
I feel a little bit awful now for people who ordered a long time ago. I only went in to my dealer a few weeks ago on the off chance of finding an ex-demo and he looked on the computer and found a cancellation in the colour and spec we wanted. We have been given the reg plate (72 plate) and will be collecting it next week. Great news for me but feel a bit mean sharing that info. Really hope everyone gets theirs sooner rather than later.

On another note, i have really enjoyed reading the threads in this forum.

HA!!

I had forgotten about that……. If you want me to check it is still available @kayleighmw , I can do so for you. The dealer would be approximately 130 miles from you (I know as I was up visiting family this week end :) )
 
I haven't cancelled my ZS LR TC in white yet. I'm waiting until the MG4 arrives. That could be an option for you if the dealer will look to transfer it to you. I'm down in Grimsby.

My red has gone….however…………. He has a Blue Trophy connect WITH PANO roof for sale, AND a delivery date of end of NOVEMBER

If what you ordered didn't qualify for the grant (or you've now lost it due to dealer error), then have a go at finding a cancellation in the meanwhile - especially if you're flexible on colour.

It's the luck of the draw. It'd only wind me up if my dealer sold on cancellations that met the specs of customers already waiting on their order books. At the end of the day, enjoy your vehicle - it's not the buyer who is at fault for the way MG and some of their dealers seem to do things.
