MG ZS EV Shipping Updates

Well I can’t quite believe it myself but dealer just called, had a cancellation exact spec & colour as mine (LRTC in Blue) do I want it?

Of course I said YES, got a reg & chassis number, picking up Saturday (hopefully) they assured me all updates have been done & they are checking the steering column at my request.

Finance wise, about the same despite APR going up 1%, as residual value has increased.

Trying not get too excited until I get the keys in my hand but I have to say I feel a bit giddy at the moment.

Originally ordered in Dec 21 from Bulldog (Twyford, Reading), my actual car is now built but not yet shipped apparently.

Will of course update order tracker & provide pics as soon as I can.

Useful to know. I ordered from Bulldog mid Jan. I am waiting a call-back from them to give me an update.

After this last years debarcle I will never ever order a factory order car again. If I ever change again it will have to be there in the showroom for sale.

Thanks, I totally get it - the last line made me chuckle.

For some people, they've gone for cars where the dealer had placed the order prior and it's worked out great for them, getting their car without waiting as long. For others they've found out via MG but that their order timing has been based on the customer order date...not the dealers. Basically it's luck of the draw, which unfortunately is giving some a headache when it comes to their current vehicle.

Yes totally agree with you what your saying its just hard to get my head round it all it's like going to a farm to pick your eggs up but then been told I'm really sorry the chicken didn't fancy laying them today check back in a month for a update. I've sent a massive email to mg again regarding all the findings let's see what happens now I know I can be an impatient sod but like what do people expect when you get told a date and it never happens if I did that to my wife were going out on this date then I go out to the pub with the lads my bags will be on the doorstep when I get back

There’s me cancelling my Trophy LR Black dealer no idea when it’s arriving, and although we’re supposedly number 3 in the list, no clue when it’s going to be there - originally ordered in Feb.

Good news though, we’re swapping the order to the MG4 Trophy Grey and hopefully getting it this week!

Alas, my sheer joy and jubilation is back down to frustration and disappointment.

After confirming I wished to cancel my ZS trophy and move forward with the showroom model MG4 for immediate pick up, it can’t be sold to me now as there was a misunderstanding with the dealer, that they thought I wanted to proceed with both orders and if I did I could have the MG4 on Friday - and as someone else was also after it and as they are also buying another car at the same time, they now get first dibs as they are buying two cars.

So it now leaves us with a factory order for the MG4 and no ZS which we’ve been waiting since March for as it was cancelled.

Queue me trying to frantically call every dealer I could to see if anyone has any MG4 Trophy’s in stock - obviously I knew what the answer was going to be - but I had a free afternoon and nothing better to do!

Oh well, back to waiting - and I thought I was nearly there!! It would have made such a difference to us to get into an EV for fuel costs etc… back to waiting.

I’m not going to name the dealer as I don’t think it’s fair a misunderstanding lead to this. Honest mistake it seems, just venting my frustration to be honest and seeing if anyone has any advice to get one quicker!

Picked up my ZS today after a delay with the garage finishing everything on the car in time for Saturday. My dealers had nothing for months and then 3 deliveries of 15 cars per time. The forecourt was packed! They weren’t told cars were arriving until the day before in some circumstances. They also said they are having a lot of people cancel for cars generally. He showed me my original order and it’s still pending on the system as TBA.

Glad I’ve got it and it’s so lovely to drive! I know others have said it doesn’t come with car mats, but I’ve got them in mine, so I’m not sure if the guy who ordered the car agreed for them to be thrown in as part of the deal.

Don't give up calling - others snagged a ZS that way. There will be people who have put down speculative deposits on the MG4, that may end up cancelling once they try the demo.

My dealer said they had a ZS available if you’re not now set on a MG4. I went at midday though so can’t guarantee it’s still there. He didn’t tell me which model it was either.

I think we’re set on the 4 now, especially as we had affinity on the ZS. A ZS order now would be too expensive for us. And to be honest I much preferred the ride in the 4.

Did the dealer not indicate you wouldn’t get the MG4 if you cancelled the ZS order. It seems off they’d let you cancel and not tell you that someone else would get preferential treatment for buying two.

They gave us the option of cancelling the ZS and having a factory order MG4 or keeping the ZS order and then getting the MG4 on Friday.

But if we then cancelled the ZS at a later date, we would then forfeit the £500 we had put down as a holding deposit as an admin fee, but if we switched to MG4 factory order we could port the £500 over (Our proper deposit was closer to £6000).

As I said it seems to have been a miscommunication/misunderstanding somewhere, but I really thought we’d be in an EV this weekend and it was just taken away. Feel a tad frustrated, but it is what it is.

Collected my ZS EV LRTC (Red) from my dealer Richmond MG (Portsmouth) today. May 19th order...
Confirmed with salesman that it wasn't a cancellation transfer but suddenly turned up out of the blue last week. Build date mid June . Smooth hand over, bound phone to car while going through the infotainment system , all in good order. All in all, a good experience dealing with Richmond.
Only negative, no OEM mudfflaps for the mk2 available yet. asked them to Email me when avalable to order...

That boils my p1$$. I've had the exact same car ordered since January and no sign of mine. Happy for you but hope my 4 will arrive before the ZS now.

Having driven both, and now the owner of a four……you would be happier with the four, if you do not really need an SUV

EDIT: plus, was informed today, that the completely new (not a face lift, as we all expect anyway) is slated for a 2024 realease, along with the 5, the MGC, a new MG3, and a new HS.

Nowt much changing during 2023, other than some variants on the four.

So just watched channel 5 “what EV should I buy” or something like that, was surprised that they didn’t have the ZS EV on it, then I thought, I can just lmagine the phone call, “channel 5, yes you want a car, yes no problem, yes can get you one for Friday..ok bye,…Saturday comes around another phone call, “hello, oh hi, channel 5, yes..oh you haven’t got the car, let me look into that for you…umm says it’s on shortage..TBA..can you put off filming till one’s built?…hello, hello..”

Just got my call from MG Bristol North, Moby Dicks cousin is getting picked up on Wednesday. #TEAMWHITE LRTC ordered 5th of March. I'll update here if i get to see which boat it came in on from the shipping note.
