Thought I'd share my 110 mile run to Heathrow and back today. Temperature was below 10 degrees. Averaged 3.8 miles per kWh. Happy with that. Car performed brilliantly.

Anyone else got some long run figures?

That’s pretty good for colder temp driving. It’s the average speed that will kill it if that pushes higher the M/KwHr soon dips. What set up did you use? E.g. Heating on auto? Pre-heat battery/cabin?

The journey to Heathrow I had Radio on, AC/Heating on 20 degrees. On way back turned AC off and just had manual airflow with radio on. Mostly all motorway driving too. The battery intelligent heating was off (I've never turned it on tbh). The battery management said I only gained 1kw from regen on the whole journey. (I used 1 regen most of time)

What speed were you doing on the motorway, were you driving as normal (70) or slower?

Varied really between 55 and 65mph. Traffic was congested but flowing. I didn't go past 70 at any point 👍
Really interesting and thank you for sharing it with us. I too am buying an SE SR so this was relevant.
I have read most of the threads and posts about the MG4 and although I am a retired engineer, I struggle to get my head around the wide range of settings for the car and it's systems such as battery conditioning.
So was happy to read that you have not yet used battery heating.
But I am sure that once I have driven it for a few weeks, these things will become more obvious.

I did 50 miles today, in 2 lots of 25 miles with a 2 hour layover in-between. (Home to Glasgow and back, via the M74/M8). Average was 3.2 mpkWh, at ~8°C ambient. (3.6 going, 2.8 coming back ... the route is more uphill on the return).

Drive mode was Custom = all settings per Normal but ECO power delivery
Adaptive regen
ACC used, set to whatever the speed limit was but to 65 where the limit was 70 (apart from occasional raises to 70 to enable key overtakes). Average speed was 44 (from memory)
AC set for 23°C / Auto
Intelligent battery heating Off

They're like washing machines. They have a billion settings but you only use one!

High Speed is a killer for EV’s. I can’t get above 3m/kWh (on any EV that I have owned) in cold weather all motorway driving at 70ish mph.

I didn't buy an EV to toddle along slower than I used to drive my ICE car, I don't have a heavy right foot by any means but where circumstances permit I will be driving to the speed limits and just take the hit.

I did a sixty mile drive a few days ago in horrid wind and rain, getting 3m/kwh. Return journey, next day, in mild weather have me 4m/kwh. Both journeys were mostly single lane 40/50 or dual carriageway at 65-70.

Before that, and risking a reprimand for moving off topic (2 charges outward, 1 on way back), I did 200 miles to Wales and then the return journey after Christmas. Similarly, travel down was in poor weather. The 3m/kWh eventually improved to 3.2 by the time I reached the valleys. Coming back I got 3.7ish. Mostly doing 65mph.

I did get 20m/kWh over a nearly 3 mile stretch, the beauty of going down a Welsh hill!

I’ve got an SE SR and I have no idea how you managed that! 🤣

Just got home from this journey. After 30 miles of A roads was sitting at 4 Mls/kWh but then did 75 miles down A1, A14 and M11 in really gusty windy conditions with mainly headwind. Didn't hang about either doing 70 most of the motorway/dual carriageway. ACC on 23 degrees and radio on.

That’s not bad at all. Now if the average speed was nearer 60mph I would be well impressed!

It seems the 4's are definitely getting better economy as the weather is warming. I got 4.5 miles per kwh today on a 30 mile round trip.

10c is the biggy. Once temp lifts above this it makes such a difference. Shame that those in Scotland never see it. I’ll get my tin hat.

My first long trip was 200 miles return and I achieved 3.8 m/kWh. Outward journey was just me - 10 miles through London suburbs, 80 miles on motorway and 10 miles on fast rural roads. On the return I had a passenger. Weather was cool and heavy rain, motorway speed between 60 and 67 ish. Very happy.
