ISmart app not binding to MG ZS EV

Hi, Settings - System - Restore settings. Just follow the prompts from there, as I say you will loose any BT connections, and driver assist settings that differ from the default, but a few minutes to put those back in place.

I had seen that setting, but was not game to use it.
I tried your suggestion and at the welcome screen I set Time Zone. Big mistake as car still will not bind. I again reset but this time I left everything at default and success the car will bind.

Summary for successful binding.
1. Reset the infotainment system via Settings - System - restore settings (back to factory default) The car needs to be turned on and in P for this to be done.
2. When infotainment system reboots, do not configure the system, leave at defaults.
3. Bind the car to the phone app and set your security pin.
4. Rebind phone with Bluetooth and set any driver assist functions that you want on or off.

Maybe the mods can set the above as a sticky.

Hi all, just want to share my experience with this binding problem when receiving my car in august 2022. The dealer and i tried for 30min before we gave up. The phone was a Samsung A71. When i came home i did the same from an older phone a HTC U11, and it just worked right away. The nice thing was that the app now just worked also on the Samsung which is my ordinary phone. The HTC is only a backup phone and where only used for the binding, the Samsung is being used since. I have read somewhere that it could be "issues" when binding from Samsung phones but can`t confirm that with any facts.
 
Unfortunately, I have tried both factory resetting and allowing location permissions and I am still getting exactly the same "Service not found" error...

EDIT: I just tried restoring to factory settings again, but this time did not set my timezone as bignoddy55 suggested. However, it still didn’t work. I then logged into a different account I made (which previously had no success) and this time it worked!! What a mess around..

I'm experiencing the same thing with a '23 MG EV Essence, none of the solutions worked for me unfortunately, I'm experiencing "The service is not available, please try again later" message upon attempting to 'bind'.
 
Last week we purchased a new MG ZS EV Essence.
We setup the MG iSmart app on our phone but it would not bind to the car, the app failed to recognise the QR code on the car.
We contacted the MG dealer but they are having the same issue
The MG dealer said the issue is only on the Essence models and MG need to upgrade the app and/or the car software, the MG ZS EV Excite does not have this problem.
We are now waiting for MG to update the app or the car QR code but have no idea if MG are working on the issue.
All we can do is from time to time try to bind the app to the car
So far it has not worked
I have mg excite and have the same problem using andriod
 
Hi, I was talking to someone from MG NZ ealier who said the reset as I did normally fix's the issue, but the prime issue is the time, if its set to manual and is too far out from the correct regional time, the system reports the error seen, so the fix is either put the time on auto and let the GPS correct it (also ensure the GPS is operational, ie not parked in a garage where it cannot see any satellites) or do a factory reset as discussed above, and ensure the car has GPS service. Also note satellite acquisition may take a few minutes once the car has clear sky.

I agree with what Cyril stated. When I did my reset the second time, I left the time as is. I assumed it was set for China time where the server is?
At the time the car was parked in the garage and binding happened quickly. Then I manually adjusted to Brisbane time as there is no separate Brisbane time zone. Had no issues since.
Another thing to try would be if the phone was also connected via usb cable. I did not need to but your case may be different.

Just as a quick info update. Called the dealer they say no one was bound to that vehicle. I have also emailed support but from previous responses I'm not holding out much hope. Finally I'm using a pixel 6 on the latest version of Android (13) so unless that is causing issues? Another edit tried my wife's phone on android 11 still a no go.
That is rubbish. I had the same problem and they said the same to me. Try factory reset on the car and then try to bind. Good luck.

Hi I’ve got a new MG HS 2023 model got it today I’m trying to connect it to my phone but I can’t do it it won’t let me bind it I can’t find where the code is

Hi Dave313, yes no factory reset should be required no that I have looked at this more, the real issue is the time is out of wack and the app give this a snub, doing what you did sorts that, but alternatively hitting factory reset achieves the same goal.

I have not been able to bind since getting mine in January everyone has been helpful with suggestions tried everything, dealership, factory reset still no joy.
I have given up which is rather disappointing because no benefit of the app.
I genuinely Hope you have more success
 
I have the same problem. I can't get the code sent to my phone number even though it reports that it was sent successfully. However, it worked first time when asking it to send via email.
Not sure if this will help but I had trouble trying to pair the car to my phone. I waited and waited for the code to come through but in the end I tried entering my own code (1234) and it worked.
