Octopus Go Referral Link

Adam the purpose of this forum isn't to canvas referrals for Octopus but to provide content whether it is asking or providing answers. Asking people to join Octopus to get £50 without adding value to the community isn't in the spirit. I could include my own referral code as I do when contributing to a relevant discussion, but I'll withhold it in the circumstance so as not spark of an unhelpful exchange. In any case, I would like to thank those members who have seen fit to use my referral code to be found on other posts.
Well Barry the title of this thread is "Octopus Go Referral Link". So i assume its for people to share their referral links and to help each other out by referring each other is it not?

When I joined I did the same. I personally think Octopus has saved me an awful lot and without this forum I wouldn't have heard about it.

So what's the problem? I have contributed to this MG forum a lot offering advice and my experiences so please leave your negative comments to yourself.

Also... aren't you doing the same?
Busted

I believe Adam was providing exactly what I asked for. I asked on this forum in the hope that we would both benefit. I'm not overly fussed about receiving £50 credit but if it helps someone else too, then everyone's a winner.

I think it’s the icing on the cake provided that the Octopus tarif works for your personal circumstance. It’s not for everyone.
There are certainly plenty of referral links to choose from!
I used a members link when I joined, and I’ve gratefully had 2 others use mine since being with Octopus - thank you.
I think most who are considering Octopus will make their own mind up on choosing a link - without too much encouragement into deciding 🙂

So... this Octopus go lark - how do you get to the go-faster tariffs (like the 3h from 20:30 at 4.5p)? I can see them listed. but can't click through.

Do you just sign up for Go, and then contact them to change? does that mean you can pretty much switch around tariffs at will via an email?

Thanks

Cut & Pasted from Octopus Go / Go Faster. Will you save money charging your EV?

Octopus Go Faster is by invite only for existing Octopus Energy customers. Once you have switched to Octopus you can email [email protected] and ask if you can move over to one of these tariffs. I know spaces are limited but the switch is a really straightforward process.

Option 2. Take a 4-hour Go period at 5.0p/kWh and select a start time of 20.30, 21.30, 22.30, 23.30, 00.30, 01.30 or 02.30

The unit price will change slightly depending on your geographical location. The quote is from 28th June 2021. (but I know the rates still remain unchanged)

Thanks Chestnut. Didn’t spot that. It’s about 16.5p outside hours in my area. Plus it’s an electric only tariff (although they do gas as well). Switching to Octopus (and the cheapest gas provider outside my current dual supply deal) will raise my household energy bill by about £100 a year, but should cut my car charging bill by over £200/year.

I think you miss understand me. The point I was making is "Just" to post a referral code without other content or contributing to the discussion isn't in the spirit of the forum. Others in this thread had posted comments and included their OctopusGo referral code and that's great for example Chestnut2000 has included a useful contribution to the thread's discussion with the Cut and Paste of OctopusGo Faster comparisons and in Signature, there is an Octopus Referral Code. If someone finds the table helpful in making their selection then it is fine for them to share the referral as a thank you which is quite different from just posting in effect "Give me £50 and you can have £50 too"

Yes and I do post my referral code from time to time when I'm contributing value to the conversation although not on this occasion.

Thanks, Chestnut2000 but other than the £5 with the Referral Code is there any advantage or benefit in signing up?
The Instavolt App allows you to locate chargers and get real-time data regarding their availability. You can also choose to Pay upfront or as you go without the need to carry your payment cards everywhere with you. Download VAT Invoices etc.

I think by signing up to the App you get promotional offers for chargers you are using on occasions too. The introductory referral code is a £5 credit applied to your account when you've completed so many Kw of charging with them.

You can just Tap on at the Instavolt Chargers should you wish, but you won't get promotional discounts or offers.

The choice is yours.

..and even without all that, there's nowt wrong with a free fiver! Shame none of the others offer this. I guess they know you'll probably end up using them anyway.

Plus, it seems that if you're particularly helpful on here there could be other fivers coming your way! Mr Chestnut for example has both an octopus and an Instavolt referral fee heading his way after chipping in on a couple of questions that I asked!

Gotta say though - the rate that octopus start you on before they get the smart meter connection sorted is gonna sting a bit... but it'll be fine in the long run.

Thanks, And does the link in your signature include your referral code?

Chestnut's does (you can see it in the link - 6pau2 ) but for me it lost that on the signup process and I had to type it in again later (there's a panel on the left for referral and promotion codes). Maybe they're trying to cut down on referral payments!

Hi all, just put my deposit down for an EV5 LR so now going to try and sort things like home charging before it arrives in a few weeks (cant wait!)

Seems Octopus is a good/cheep elec supplier, i was going to sort a decent supplier before i go for a home charger (just use the granny charger to see how i get on). i'd happily take a referral code (without trying to inflame any of the above thread) - as they say, every little helps :D

does anyone have any feedback on how easy the switchover was to Octopus / smart meter installation?
