Placed my order couple weekends ago, with an expected date of late Nov, Dec. Spoke last week and he felt Jan was seemingly more likely... I've indicated that I'm not actually that bothered by paint colour, just LR Exclusive model.

Does anyone have any ideas on when the next shipment might hit the shores?

I ordered mine Mid-October and have been told as recently as last week that it should be here Mid to Late November as orginally informed when ordering.

White MG5 LR Exclusive

Ah ok maybe the guy is just being on the conservative side. Ordered it on 16th of October, I've emailed him for an update though.

"At present all the MG5EVlr colours are still showing their standard time which is 4 months but as soon as they get reallocated with a build number there will be a new date more like dec/jan"

Response just received.

Ordered mine mid September. Due end of November but got told last week that it will be beginning of January. I still live in hope that it will come sooner but there is no point calling them every week.

Our of interest would there be one shipment or could there be several with slightly different lead times? Just odd that some are Jan estimates and some are Nov, could it be some were ordered from dealers earlier? Would be great if you could track your car from factory to dealership

It was mentioned on podcast a few weeks back that MG also buy spare capacity on boats from other manufacturers so there might be one large shipment and lots of smaller quantities in between.

I ordered mine on 3 Sept and was told it was probably already on it's way - but wouldn't arrive till Nov. That really IS a slow boat from CHina!!

I think the dealers are guessing a lot of the time.

They do use a few different boats. Not really surprising when you consider how many different countries they are supplying to - I think the specialist boats carry 2000 - 2500 cars which really wouldn't go far across all the European countries, let alone the Americas etc

Interesting, before I ordered I called several dealers just to see if any had stock. Some dealers were saying Dec at time but some November, so maybe the case that there are several boat loads? I wonder if colour has anything to do with it too, batch of white on one and red on others etc

I ordered August and am being told first half of November. Initially it was supposed to arrive in October. I also got told December.

Some people who ordered after me received theirs earlier.

The issue in part is that I get the impression from my own experience and that of others on this forum that some dealers seem to give you a more optimistic view until you've signed on the dotted line and then tend to be more realistic after.

That's not to say that there isn't also problems with how MG themselves give out dates on the system to the dealers.

I would expect to wait 3/4 months and then be pleasantly surprised if you get it sooner. Considering how long the wait times are for other brands, this is pretty short

It's a bit irritating as when I ordered at start Sept I was told mid Nov delivery, which I took as fairly firm and decided to sell my Ampera before going on 6 weeks holiday at the end of Sept. I was hoping to arrive back on 6 Nov and pretty much my new car would be there, give or take.

That could still be true I suppose, and I'm glad I sold the Amp (even though it was a wonderful car) and haven't got that hassle to go back to. We have a second car so no big deal being without but I'm looking forward to the new one now!

I ordered my ( first wave ) ZS EV on the 23rd July 2019 with an estimated delivery of Oct / November 2019.
Decided to sell my car privately towards the end of November 2019.
Updates on delivery promises from the dealer was vague / useless to say the least.
Then completely out of the blue, my car arrived at the dealership, completely out of the blue, two weeks before Christmas 2019.
I deferred delivery until the 6th Jan 2020.
Almost a seven month wait !.
We where lucky enough to be able to use my wife’s small car over this time scale.
If you are locked into a PCP or least plan, then trying to align this against a constantly moving delivery date, is pretty much impossible I would imagine.
Cars are only allocated to each dealer when they have entered into the country I believe.
MG have already stated that they will be forced into raising their prices in January 2022 due to a 600% increase in the cost of shipping !.
On a family day out yesterday, I was chatting with chap who had owned a toy shop for over ten years.
He said that children’s toys prices where going to jump massively next year.
He was quoting items and prices he had been buying for the last three years, where almost trebling in price next year !.
He said :- “Customers will not pay that, I don’t know what I am going to do, I will probably just close up shop”.
It just appears to me that we are now starting to see the true price of the pandemic 😷 and companies are fighting to recover the lost revenue !.

As daft as it sounds I wonder if this might bring the UK economy back as if importing goods in terms of tax/shipping from far east is going to be so high, companies might look to start filling our empty production plants again.

Point of order m'lud, July 23rd to mid December is 5 months not 7 :D (even Jan 6th is only 5 months 2 weeks).
It does always seem like a long time though when you are waiting for something. I'm in the same boat, not literally unfortunately, waiting for my 5LR right now.

It all depends on how shipping is allocated, if they are being made to order, then with each build should usually have a space allocated on a vessel, as they already know where it's going.

Though with MG not having custom builds as such it might be different, though not sure what other country other than the UK and Ireland would have a right hand drive car with heating.

Do cars in Australia, NZ have heating in theirs?

Sorry stand corrected @Gomev.
Somebody has messed about with my bead counter !.
We have used been using a hire car for almost a couple of weeks now, a quick reminder of how much fossil fuel costs !.
Made a familiar trip down to Harlech to see family yesterday.
Topped up with £28 worth of that stinky derv stuff before we set off.
School boy error, forgot to use gloves to pump the fuel.
I could smell it on my hands for the whole trip.
Got home and found most of that fuel had gone.
I did the same trip last year in our ZS EV for about £4.00 and a lot less noise.

I was hoping the MG5 LR would have arrived early Oct as I had to do 3 trips to london at a cost of over £150 in petrol over the course of two weeks.

Could have cost so so much less
