WHATS UNDER THE COVER ON AN MG5?

Can't see why using this space isn't standard in design. Along with having hydraulic struts please! Some things I do miss....

I'm a bit on the fence. I like the idea of using the space, but taking the cover and frame off and exposing all the bits and pieces sounds a bit risky to me. I would be worried about invalidating warranties etc. I'd definitely be up for getting a frunk unit that could be put in - if that ever becomes a option.
@Bogrole - is that plastic box fixed in any way, or is it just sitting there?

Just fits in the gap, it has no where to go

I can't see any warranty issues since you are not modifying the car. In my case I hung the box on metal brackets from the 4 screw holes that the frame attached to so that it doesn't rattle around. I did this because I'm not sure what exactly is in there in terms of pipes and wiring. e.g. at the back behind the box there's a sealed off pipe that looks pretty fragile.

It looks like you are leaving out the bracket which goes front to back - is that just to screw the cover to, or could it be strengthening?

I quite like the idea of sticking the (rarely used) cable somewhere other than the boot. I also have the granny cable taking up a side pocket, which I am unlikely to ever use so I'm inclined to pout it in the garage, but who knows when I might need it in an emergency when out and about.

The bracket is very weak plastic! Take the cover off and have a look.

Haha, I will then!! But if that's the case, I'm warming to the idea.

How do you stop the box rattling around?

My type 2 cable fits neatly in the space where a spare wheel would be if I had got around to getting one (I will, probably dreckly after the first puncture). The downside is its a bit inaccessible if the boot has stuff and/or the dog in it, but so far over 9 months I haven't used it, so hey ho. (only used the granny charger three times too - but that seems more useful)

The thing for me is, I'd know when I am likely to use it, and that would be very rare, so I ought to find somewhere inconspicuous for it. The spare wheel area would have been good but I have a spare wheel :) Then again, it isn't in the way most of the time just loose in the boot - it's in a bag after all.

The cable needs to have a dedicated place. One of the college's I work for has an kangoo EV. When the van has been full to the roof with rubbish they have managed to skip the cable twice.

If I do buy an MG the cable will go under the bonnet as every square inch will be put to use.
I'm not a fan of the spare in the boot either there much better of underneath the car. Nothing worse than having to empty the boots entire contents.

If it could fit, under the bonnet would be a very good place to house a spare wheel.
