MG ZS EV Shipping Updates

it is ZS excite petrol, manual, white colour

Interesting, I ordered the same but an automatic. Fingers crossed this is decent information, every time I phone my dealer for an update I get pushed back. I was last quoted May/June.

Was that a new order or picking up a car that was already in the system?

Some dealers seem to have put loads of orders in early and are allocating them as customers order.
The Glyn Hopkins in east London I ordered my LR from did say as I was ordering they just got told they would get some SR in the next week or so if I wanted to switch. I stuck with my LR order but other dealers may have also have got some SR in.

Had an email from my dealer last night - here are the main points.

Covid outbreak in China likely to affect delivery of new cars.

Global supply of components is affecting all cars, especially EVs.

About 100 cars arrived in March - that does not amount to even 1 per dealer.

MG UK have successfully lobbied the factory to send proportionally more car to the UK to attempt to meet unprecedented demand - 5000 cars will be arrive in the UK in 2022.

Confirmation of £500 price increase in April and possibly further increases in the summer due to increased component and shipping costs.

If you have already ordered, your price will remain fixed.

Put simply, he still cannot give you any cast-iron assurances over when your car will arrive. he can, however, assure you that everyone throughout the supply chain is motivated to deliver the cars as quickly as possible. You may see some suppliers offering ETA’s (Estimated Time of Arrival) to their customers, but he refuses to offer speculative dates when we are all in the same boat of simply guessing/estimating. He would much rather offer you the truth and then inform you of something more concrete than give you a date and then keep pushing it back.

He will continue to send these updates to all 800+ customers they have awaiting ZS EV LR’s when they have any wider information to share, but given the sheer volume, moving forward, it’s only possible to update individuals on their order when they get a material change to your order status (ie, they can give you a more concrete ETA based on your car being shipped).

As a final note, the factory have been able to produce more of the Standard Range version of this car and for anyone who can live with 197 miles of range, He can provide concrete delivery dates on that car. A couple of people taken a Standard Range and plan to part exchange it against their Long Range when it arrives later in the year, given the depreciation may not differ too greatly from the costs of running/maintaining and increased depreciation of an ICE vehicle.

Most of the information is not what people waiting for their new car want to hear but at least he is being honest, which I for one think is better than putting a finger in the air and giving a date that cannot be confirmed.

Hope this information is of use.

I have contemplated cancelling my order on several occasions but it is no skin of the dealers or MGs nose as there will be several waiting to take my spot. As I booked a white trophy lr in nov, pre grant cut off with Chorley, they have me by the short and curlies. Cancelling means nothing unless there is a mass cancellation, hitting MG where it hurts.
I will certainly not be recommending MG to anyone as the are treating their customers as mushrooms (kept in dark and fed on sh!t). I am totally fed up.
To be fair the dealers can only pass on what they are told. However, if there is queue jumping then they lay themselves open to litigation.
I get what you mean, it's awful waiting. I've ordered evs to be told one thing but then told another, up to now I have been impressed with mg garage and their contact. I'm going to be patient about my order, if everyone is being told late June, because it looks like this is what the general info is from us all, then that's a lot of cars on the ship and I hope we get one.

Yesterday, I saw a brand new black mg 22 plate drive past me, I felt happy that they do actually exist!!!

I put in an order to lease a LR EV Trophy connect through Octopus Salary Sacrifice scheme in late December. (Octopus batch ordered a ton of these last year in expectation that people would want to lease them) It was due to arrive in April then pushed back to May and after finding out my factory number, I contacted MG customer services myself yesterday asking how far along the car was in it's journey.

I've just been told that the car hasn't even been built yet and at the moment its listed for an end of July date which is subject to change.

From what I've read on this forum, that date is highly unlikely...

Hey how did you find out your factory number?

Octopus currently quoting end of my for myself... According to them this is for a ZS LR ordered in November. I think I should give them a call tomorrow

SAIC is also supported by the skilled team at our Zeebrugge terminal, the primary hub for all SAIC vehicle exports from China to Europe
Splendid ace is going to Zeebrugge after Bristol so UK will be delivered to Bristol and Europe to Zeebrugge would be my guess

You will find that all the vessels that have brought in MGs over the last few months dock at Portbury, Bristol UK. Then go to Zeebrugge. The UK does not take delivery of MGs through Europe. Shanghai to Portbury.

Splendid Ace is in port having traveled from shanghai wonder if any MGs on board

It was only in port 14 hours so it might have a been a quick load, also depends on whether anything was actually loaded, but dropped off instead. But in saying that, you wouldn’t want a vehicle carrier to go all the way around the world not to be carrying vehicles!
