5LR Power

Good luck Eddie - hope it’s gone well. 👌

Let me know if you're planning on a coffee morning, please and I'll see about re-arranging my diary so I can pop along. It'll be good to see you and Archie (and anyone else who was at the first meet up), again

Cheers

Hi Bloggsy (and anyone else)
I just passed an MG meet (Midgets B’s etc as far as I could see. It was in the car park of Mannerston Café and Farm Shop near Linlithgow as I was heading over to Fife today. I didn’t stop but there were a good number of cars from my quick glance.
However, to the real meet, the Electric Ensemble -
I’m now retired and able and willing to allow you busy working fellows to specify dates and venues and I can usually accommodate that fairly easily.
How about chucking a date or two into the ring and see what suits others??
I won’t manage the 21st of April but I think that’s all.
Any venue suits me.
Good to hear / read from you sir, smile on Archie 👍

Not a problem bloggsy, would look forward to an MG chat again with you and Archie and anyone else who wants to come along.
Once I can see again  I'll put forward a time and date for approval.

BTW, can I please have another moan - thx, albeit I don't frequent petrol stations anymore I still cant get my head round the decimal point price for a Ltr of fuel. I am aware for the psychology behind it but always wanted to put the exact litre in and ask for my point of a pence change !
end of crabby post...

Good to know you’re back in the fold Eddie.
Just wait till they start putting signs up about charging prices 🙃

In my humble opinion I don't see any reason apart from turning up the heat in the cabin to use any option other than Eco mode...its torque is amazingly fast and I would suggest using any higher is wheel spin territory. I've never tried sport as I don't see the need but being an old git its maybe a young mans game and I've had my spell at being a numpty ! but its a phenomenal car (especially at the traffic lights)! BTW getting my red coat another professional coating tomorrow to make it even more beautiful!
I think I'm coming round to your way of thinking @Edoc16 .. Around town I thought I was clever putting it in Sports and Kers3. After a while I got sick of continually spinning my wheels, so I'm now leaving it on Normal.
The only reason I haven't gone all the way to Eco is that I thought it might turn the AirCon off and do other power saving measures that I might find annoying. Is that not the case?
Hope you're enjoying full vision with your cataract-free eyes..

No the Econ dose not turn off greeiig in eco mode or other things off I drive a lot in eco and kers on 3 and still have fun leaving other cars at lights etc 😜
I guess I could have consulted the manual for that, but good to have a real person confirm - thanks!
I might need to consider pushing the KERS and MODE switches in opposite directions from now on..

Hi greeting. Yeah that’s my action just before turning the dial for forward motion - I pinch the mode and Kers switches such that the result is eco and 3.

I now am greeiig, thx and everything is so much brighter (apart from my brain)! strangely I never use the Aircon - probably dates back to the old fuel saving days but I will still use eco 'cause I'm a miserable Scotsman and every penny is a prisoner :)

Good to hear!
I've always been a "leave the air-conditioning on auto and it'll be nice and comfy" kind of kiwi..
The MG when on auto seems to keep the fan up very high, even when the temperature is ok.. So I agree it's a range killer. Maybe that why I only managed around 130miles on my last trip. 😀

Wow, you sure you have the LR ? that's quite low for a large-ish battery I'm way over the 200 mark and don't travel at the speed of light !

Yes I have the LR! That was during my trip to France, with a Roofbox, ski box and 5 in the car. It's also the range going from ~85% to ~15% so I could probably have gone a bit further

I often take claimed range with a pinch of salt. You might manage over 200 miles, but on a long journey, having just charged to 80% on a rapid charger, you'll be thinking about the next charge after 100 miles, when you're down to 30% .
On my ABRP app it was scheudling lots of shortish charges quite often

... sorry - off on a bit of a tangent there

With that lot you should have bought a van !!!! anyway did the charging en route cause problems or are the French better organized ?

I blame that hefty ceramic coating for that Eddie 🤣🤣. My car is currently at 74% and showing 204 miles to go. 🙃🙃
How’s your eyes my friend?
Archie

Well I did the research and the MG5 seemed the closest thing I could get to that - it just about replaces my old Ford S-MAx, apart from the addtioanl seats.

I had a few dramas in France, but the charging was generally fairly smooth. I mostly do town driving and charge at home, so a fairly big learning curve. Main one was - filter for rapid DC chargers only when searching!
I posted in this thread here about it

Hi Arch, I'm just loving this car how it looks how it performs how you can travel on long journeys
without a care were actually thinking of a trip to Skye long time since we've been and just fancy it ....
As far as the eyes are concerned really glad to have the ops done big difference now - Q song by Johnny Nash !
