MG ZS EV Shipping Updates

I seem to recall someone mentioned in an earlier thread that there were 400 MG customers Vanarama were needing to phone with updates, so if true that's potentially 400 cars which is a lot to come from one dealer. However surely the November 2021 orders are the first.

So I’ve had a reply to my email, to start it was about the chip shortage etc, he said my car was ordered on the 17/12/21 and still waiting build and car ordered up to July will come with a sunroof..

OMG - Did they phone you, text or email. Wonder if that is because they have no real idea or whether January 2023 actually means something! I appreciate Vanarama are at the hands of the Dealership they ordered through, who in turn are at the hands of MG.

I am pretty certain that this is just an estimate made up by Vanarama. MG UK have no clue for what production runs are intended next week never mind about in a few months time.
If you think about it, to be delivered in January next year it will need to leave China in November. Therefore does anyone on this forum believe that there is a plan to make a specific car in October/November this year to deliver in Jan next year?
Just assume it will arrive when it arrives - TBA.

Dealership..he said they have had a bulletin from MG, saying the sunroof would only be affected by orders placed after 1st July….which I guess makes a bit of sense as some have been saying they are opening the books again on the 1st for new orders..

I saw a bulletin last weekend at dealership with reference to no sunroof and removal of connect model from orders placed 1st July. I am sure it said something about privacy glass being standard but don’t quote me on that.
Would be interesting to see when they reopen the order book - they still have a large order book of people waiting up to 8 months to supply first.
I would hope that they do not start making the new models before they have exhausted the supply of the old variants with sunroofs.

Yes they have more than 400 cars ordered. I am hoping that is the case. It just seems random some people ordering afterwards are getting deliveries earlier but its mismanagement from MG and perhaps dealers

That is brilliant news - have meetings later otherwise I could have driven down to Ventnor to see it sail by?

I can't imagine that Vanarama will be relying on one dealer to fulfil all their orders.
As an salesman (Mazda,Honda,Landrover,VW) I was constantly at the mercy of the manufacturer. VW in particular would change specs at a moments notice. Roof rails would change colour infotainment specs changed. Chrome detailing . You name it. We would very rarely get notification . they'd just rely on the brochure statement "Reserve the right to alter specification"

Are cars delivered from China to a port in the Med, unloaded and then reloaded on another ship to bring to UK?

If true, this will be telling - we should be able to physically see if a Trophy was ordered after July 1st so if trophy SR/LR cars without a sunroof start arriving with people still waiting for their cars from prior orders - we will know 100% that something dodgy is happening

So just got a call from my guy at MG Bristol North and it was a courtesy call to say my 30th September date is still what he has for me. Ordered March 5th LRTC in White. He also wanted to assure me that I will get the panoramic roof and exactly what I have ordered. He did say there was a SR SE in black for sale that has been their demonstrator with 7k miles on it. I am not interested but if anybody here may be looking to get ANY possible MG then could be worth a crack.

No, they make multiple stops. Suez, Livorno, Vigo, Portbury in the case of mine.

Then how can Emerald Leader have new MG’s on board - it left Portbury on 29th May and visited various ports in Spain, then Italy, Greece, Turkey, Germany and finally Belgium before heading back to Portbury.
Grumpy has been informed his car is on it by someone?

I'm sceptical it'll be under £30k, but I really hope it is. If they edge it up to the £35k mark, they'll face a lot of competition.


Two down, two to go. I'm interested in any big August drops...I'm foolishly hoping for an early September delivery.

Bad news mate I'm afraid, I've just looked on vesseltracker.com and it looks like viking adventure has stopped at USA and 3 ports in Japan and is now on the way to suez canal (no stop in China ) sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Galveston Highway is steaming on its way though- due to arrive 11th July
