    Not a bad idea. But on a more realistic note, I wonder if entrepreneurs might start to produce retrofit range extender options for electric cars to help alleviate range anxiety? It's always nice to know you have a few kW on tap:-)

    Try shining a decent torch into the dome-shaped sensor on the dashboard and see if the lights go off. It may provide a clue if they extinguish - like the threshold is incorrect? It sounds like a faulty sensor to me.
