Thanks. When you have some data it would be good to know.

The Ultimate MGS5 "Real World" Energy Consumption Thread

A factor which is more significant in EV compared to ICE is the hotel load which is largely constant regardless of time (heating/aircon/lights etc etc). But power for propulsion goes up broadly as the square of speed so taking half the time by driving at twice the speed increases power...

What has it done to your miles per KWHr in rough terms?

    Government grant

I asked MG UK if SAIC was applying for the new Gov EV Grant for its cars and they had no idea. SAIC works on the mushroom management principle, keep them in the dark and occasionally throw in a handful of chicken poo. There seems to be no way of contacting SAIC than snail mail.

Looking for MGS5 Boot liner with bumper flap.

The best boot liners are provided by Hatchbag. I have had them on 3 cars (BMW/Octavia/MG5) and they are fully tailored, include a cill flap and also extra bits to cover the seats when folded and come in lots of colours. They are about £150 but worth every penny. Only problem is that because they...

    Government grant

The Government has shot itself in the foot by not allowing dealers to apply for payment of the grant until the car model in question is on the approved list. Retrospective applications are not allowed. No one will want to commit to a car until they know what grants apply to which cars. The...

Grid over voltage shutting down my PV array

The DNO limited me to 5KW export despite having capability for 7KW. My son very close to me made the decision to go 3 phase as he has 8 KW array, batteries, 22KW charger 3 heat pumps etc. He doesnt have any limits. At previous house we suffered from huge voltage spikes but eventually the DNO...

    Range ok on this car?

The GOM looks at the miles per KWHr (accumulated), whether you are in ECO/Normal/Sport and the state of charge so can vary a lot for any given SOC. As a rough guide in winter you may only average 3.4 - 3.5 Miles per KWHr and in summer 4.5 - 5. But these efficiencies are very affected by...

    Boot reopening after closing

If there is a key inside the car the bootwill automatically reopen so that it is impossible to lock your only key inside the boot, for instance if you put your shopping in and drop your key in the boot.

    Uneven Tyre Wear

Thanks for the specs for alignment. In Normandy this week (fortuitously) and will look at my printout from Kwikfit on return.

    Uneven Tyre Wear

Had the tracking checked this morning. All well in spec, see attached print out. Not sure why the system with my reg came up with "except Long Range" and whether this could be the issue. Did MG change the tracking etc for LR versions? The weight difference SR to LR is very small so doesn't seem...

    Uneven Tyre Wear

My pre FL MG5 is wearing the tyres out very unevenly, the inner tread on both fronts is drastically more worn than the outside tread. Dealer at second service said that this is common on MG5s on both front and back and that tracking is not the cause, although I intend to get my tracking checked...

    Cabin pollen filter

Just had mine done at second service and they charged £23 plus VAT for the bit. When I got the car back the fan was making strange noises so I took the new filter out and found debris in the fan. Clearly when they took the old one out it dropped down onto the fan. Cleared the debris, which is...

    Solaredge charger issues

The whole Solaredge system is now working as it should, PV panels, inverter, batteries, immersion controller, backup (off grid switch) unit and car charger. It is a neat package and can be left on its own to put spare electricity where your priorities say it should go. My only issue is that...

    Solaredge charger issues

Yes, poor use of words and should have said measuring points rather than meters! One CT is inbuilt in the backup unit and one is external clamped onto the main house supplier's meter tails.
