It was. I've posted below on the main thread
What a saga. It turned out that my local dealer from whom I'd bought the car (Waylands, in Oxford) were spectacularly useless and wasted five months of my time and effort sending me in wrong directions. Thanks to a couple of people posting on this...
Fascinating. I had a similar reply from someone else a couple of months ago (although they didn't mention Steer). I wasn't going to claim on insurance until I knew what the damage was likely to cost - but as I say, I haven't even got as far as getting an estimate after 5 months. Perhaps it's...
I've decided to get rid of my MG5 as soon as I can get it repaired. I've phoned the local MG dealership and the two separate body repair shops they use a dozen times, and visited them in person, over the last five months (since a minor accident in early September) and they can't even get me a...

We had a minor crunch in the first week of September and despite 2 visits to the dealer, one to their nominated repair shop and several phone call reminders, as of Jan 8th I have yet to even get a quote, let alone get a part order in. Non-existent after-sales service, basically. Best of luck
Anyone had more success than me in getting a repair job done? Had a small crunch to my MG5 first week of September 2023. As of Jan 8th 2024, after two vists to the MG dealer/workshop and one to their nominated body repair firm I have yet to even get a quote for repair, let alone get an order in...
An unfortunate minor accident necessitates a replacement rear offside reflector unit + trim. The body repair shop is ready and waiting to fix it and trying to get the part via the local dealership. Neither are getting anything back from MG and it's been two months now. This is not good -- if...
Completely agree. Lovely though it is the MG5 is NOT an "estate car" - it's a hatchback, and should be advertised as such. Not even a particularly versatile hatchback - it's all I can do to get one bike in the back. My old diesel Peugeot 307 is what I call an estate car : did a trip to Utrecht...
I'd concur with most of that review, though you must have a different smartphone from me, as it's very random whether Android Auto will connect to my phone or not. Lately: not at all. Samsung S9 is not exactly rare. My major beef is the ease with which you can accidentally engage lane control...
Didn't know there was an app, and I can't schedule charging on my 7kW charge point anyway. The supplied manual (MG5 estate long range) was vague about equalisation charging but I got the impression that if you charge to 100% on a 3-pin plug slow (~1kW) charge it will equalise anyway. I've no...
According to the manual, MGPilot is activated either by switching it on via the infotainment system on the screen or "Operating the adaptive cruise control lever to 'resume' twice". (That is quite easy to do accidentally). That will "switch the MGPilot system to standby or active state"...
