You are correct with type 027. I think an AGM battery is unnecessary but each to their own. Since you asked for recommendations and as there is no real power drain on the battery for starting I would go for a cheaper but perfectly good option, choose whatever puts your mind at ease...

I know you do, however the titles in the newspaper articles are click baity only specifying EVs and even the first paragraph of your original post specifically states EVs twice and not all cars.

I would say keep it simple. Doesn't matter what state of charge you start at just fully charge it to 100% and allow it finish in it's own time. Equalisation done. Calibration charge is different and supposedly has to go from 10% ish to 100% in one straight charge. I have never done one in over 5...

The MG5 may not have supercar performance but it's no slouch at just over 7 seconds 0-62mph, comparable with something like a Mk5 Golf GTI, but without the handling to go with it, and handling matters when cornering.

Some dealers are just poor. As I said my dealer was superb but had their hands tied to the procedures laid down to them by MG. e.g. can I please have permission to do this fix... etc.

Might have to revisit Thoresby Hall once the refurbishment is finished. We went a couple of years ago in February and it was a cold old place with a long way to walk to anywhere within the hotel. Didn't need to charge as it's only about 50 odd miles from us.

You don't need to do too many miles to benefit from a EV (time of day) tariff. I only do 6/7000 a year and am on Octopus Go. We are very low users at home though, c.150kWh / month but the EV tariff saves us around £230 a year. Here is a print of my comparison figures using Go, Octopus Fixed...

I think the point to be taken from this is that it is primarily people with access to off street charging that are buying/running EVs. A PPP charge on top of public charging costs removes all economic incentives to switch to an EV if you haven't got access to off street charging.

Regen 3 would be bad on dual carriageway and the motorway anyway, as low as you can go there. My Kona can be turned to regen 0 which works great and ACC uses that as well.
