Yep that's a big car I think the Hyundai sits higher up though I think . Have you had a look at the other Chinese company JAECOO they have some hybrid cars plug in or petrol. full electric coming next month and they are pretty luxurious.

Its not anything new Hyundai had to do a recall in 2022 for various models due to seat belt pretentioners not operating correctly. Hasn't damaged their reputation?

I think a seat mechanism not being secure enough is definitely a Recall?

Doesn't matter what manufacture it is they will all try and fob the customers off.

Just a bit of humour picked up my new mg3 hybrid+ today it's has 230bhp and is a lot lighter, that's because no problem with the front seat mechanism or air bags problem. Because MG have removed the seat and airbags problems fixed 😁 If you didn't laugh you would just cry.😁😁

Yes as I have already stated it won't be up to MG to decide. The powers from elsewhere will decide. Obviously they will say new cars because they are getting built in factory so it's easier for the fix . It's a tad more awkward for cars already on the roads or for sale at the dealership, a fix...

It could take up to 5 hours depends how complex the car is , software updates etc .

It's a safety issue so I can almost guarantee that DVSA are involved with this issue. Just like the Stellantis , Peugeot, Citroen,DS cars with the airbag fault , all cars have been recalled back to 2013 unfortunately that was a code red from Dvsa so all cars are off the road till fixed .

Sorry would like to add this if fitting larger alloy wheels or doing any modifications to your car like lowered suspension etc you have to notify your car insurance as is classed as a modification not standard equipment.FAILURE TO NOTIFY COULD INVALIDATE INSURANCE YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.

Regarding the passenger seat or rear seats, according to the NCAP result they were unable to test other seats because of the drivers seat fail . My dealership told me they were in the dark and hadn't had any update from MG corporate, that was yesterday when I was at the dealership.

I think you have to give MG and the different safety organisations time to sort it out it's not a quick fix for a Recall could take weeks , obviously if MG try and worm their way out then it's a different story??

I think customers would have a case through the consumer rights act 2015, if MG don't fix cars previous to October 2025 as the car would be deemed not fit for purpose? Perhaps someone on the forum with more legal knowledge could answer this ?

I think with MG saying that improvements are being implemented on October cars is them admitting there is a fault it's a lot easier doing the upgrades in the manufacturing process than doing it in a dealership with perhaps with only two or four technicians who still have to do all the servicing...

As far is believe the mechanism twisted so the seat wasn't in the straight ahead position when it impacted the bollard, that's why the crash dummy didn't hit the air bag head on , so it sounds to me that the metal frame mechanism isn't strong enough? Also that the test was only done at 30 mph...

I think it didn't fail in the other tests because they weren't testing that part of the car , that part had already been tested, also I think they would check that the seat was locked into it's position before the test they have been doing the tests since the mid nineties, unfortunately this MG...

The government body dvsa will force MG to do a recall if deemed unsafe, MG can say what they want if they fail to act dvsa will force a mandatory recall, that's how it works in the UK .

I think you will find it's not just the hybrid, it's the petrol equivalent also from 2024 onwards it's the same car minus the hybrid system.

I believe it only applies to the mg3 model from 2024 onwards. Not the older model.
