Not an MG
Had a trip to our local dealer today to view the trophy in orange.
After viewing it's definitely not for me in that colour.
I think MG have a real nerve charging £700 for flat paint.
It's not metallic or tri-coat.
the white and blue are flat paints too and are at no cost.
I actually now prefer the white and blue anyway.
Though the red is really nice too

on other notes though
I'm being told 16 weeks for any long range, SE or Trophy apart from the orange trophy which is 8 weeks (I guess MG have a surplus in orange)

The standard range is also 8 weeks.
I am now seriously considering the standard range SE anyway as it's still plenty of range and huge value for money by comparison.
The dealer also said they've been told there is about to be a price increase from the 1st October for 4th quarter, but didn't have any actual figures as yet.
Has anyone else heard anything ??
Or am I just being pushed into placing an order before then.
one other thing he also said was the SE will not come with tinted windows after the first batch of cars and it would mean aftermarket tints.
Have you heard anything @Miles Roberts CG

Thanks

Incorrect
I strongly suggest you take a look at one in the flesh then as I did yesterday.
I've seen many colour variations in pictures online
It definitely isn't metallic or tri-coat of any way shape or form.
I really wanted the orange based on some pics online.
But after seeing it in person it's basically RAC van orange.
Absolutely no difference
Even the sales guy agreed it didn't look like the pictures online.

I have viewed in the flesh and purchased. I love the colour. What evidence do you have that it is not tri coat? If you present that here than we can take a case to trading standards.BTW the orange is not metallic, just tri coat.

If you've placed a £99 deposit order down, as I have, I think that locks in the price to today's price doesn't it, even if the car doesn't arrive until next year?
Yeah that's what they said to be fair.
Was just curious of it was just sales talk or an actuality of an increase

I have placed the £99 deposit, however my dealer were clear that this wouldn't lock the price - MG can change the price at anytime if they want, the transaction isn't complete until.its paid for on its entirety. I can however get a refund on my deposit if I don't want to proceed.

I don't know anything about the price rise but the rear privacy glass is a Trophy feature, however MG messed up and provided it on the first 600 SE's. If you have a factory order for an SE it will not come with privacy glass.
Didn't someone say priv glass on the first batch of SE's was a gesture of goodwill from MG motors. 😀😀

That is volcano orange on an MGF not on an MG4, the name is the same but the colour is different. I think you may also be getting confused by pictures of MG4’s online showing a similar colour to your MGF picture which is not the new volcano orange, nor does it purport to be and in any event is not available in the UK. Similarly there are pictures of green and other colours not available in the UK

Please enlighten us with your evidence showing that this is not a tri coat finish and as I say I will take to trading standards.

I am very pleased with the tri coat finish on the volcano orange trophy that I I have ordered, it looks beautiful in the sunlight in my humble opinion, you don’t like it that’s clear but hey I think the red is not for me. Tastes vary.

Your post stating that it is not tri colour is incorrect and I repeat, if you have evidence to the contrary (other than a picture of an MGF) post it here.

Whilst I appreciate your note of different colours for different regions.
The metallic orange is shown on MG UK website so I still stand by my comment of it should be metallic.

It does not state metallic, it is tri colour, not metallic. The grey, for example is metallic, the orange is not. And please show me where on that picture it states that it is volcano orange? Below is the picture from the configurator which is much closer to what you will see in the flesh. Some tri colour paint will have a sparkly effect, some less so, however it is not metallic on the MG4 and it is tri-colour paint i.e with the extra layer. It may not be a tri colour you like and it may not match renders on the internet that MG used for marketing. I stand by my correction of your assertion that it is not tri colour. Incidentally, the way you will prove it is not tri colour is to cut through a panel and post magnified pictures of the cross section. Alternatively, a statement from MG corporate saying “sorry we lied about the paint process” would suffice.

Each to their own
It smacks of MG using the wrong pictures on the UK website.
I was at the dealers yesterday when a guy collected his orange trophy and he was not a happy bunny asking where the metallic paint was.
His first choice wasn't orange but the dealer had this one coming in so he agreed to buy it without seeing it.
He took the car but I'm sure he's a bit sour about it it.
He said he wasn't a fan but didn't want to wait 16 weeks for another colour when this one was available now.
Many are buying a car without seeing the thing in person due to supply etc, the least MG could do is use the right colour pictures online and not leave it open to interpretation on a 32 grand car.

I think what you’re trying to say is that the tri coat paint on the volcano orange is not sparkly enough for you. It is not supposed to be metallic, nor is it sold as metallic. If you are looking for more sparkle then the red tricolour has a little more or of course you could order metallic paint.

There are many renders on the web of an orange MG4 that looks quite different, a bit like your MGF and your other pic above. But they do not state that this is volcano orange. I actually agree with you that those pictures can cause confusion but they do not make your assertion correct re the orange MG4 not having tri colour paint, I stand by my correction

No worries
We'll agree to disagree
If I do go for one it will be holburn blue as I think that pops really well and is no extra charge

I'm hoping my White SE SR comes with privacy glass . It's due in November so ..... Fingers crossed!
