Interior light holder

I managed to get the plastic lens cover off. Can’t seem to get the bulbs out though. Anyone managed to get the bulbs out?

Does anyone know how to remove this unit without breaking it? One of the bulb holders isn’t clipped into place (or has come in clipped when I tried to change bulb)

Dealer will likely charge as it’s not a warranty issue.
I also pushed the holder right through but it was no issue. There are a couple of screws holding down the panel surrounding the lights. Once they are removed you can drop the whole panel out and get into the area behind where the bulb holders are clipped in. You might be able to plug in your bulbs before you replace it.

Where are the screws? The only ones I could see were in the sunglasses holder.

As I said above dealer has now agreed to look at it for free as long as it’s quick so will probably leave it alone. Would be good to know though

Wonder if you can get a power USB there for a dashcam?

Whenever replacing plastic clips always wipe a spot of washing up liquid on them especially hub caps always helps. I sometimes use SWMBO’s hairdryer to make them more mailable ( flexible)

@EV KIWI also just to confirm this was on MG4?

I noticed your profile says New Zealand.

Well it's sorted, and I have to say the Technician at MG Redditch was very helpful.

He dropped the unit to reseat the holder, and even fitted my LED bulbs.

I guess they want to keep me happy so I service the car with them, I'll probably set up a service plan.

The two screws under the Sunglass holder are removed. That allows the entire panel to drop away. I may not have made this clear in my earlier message. I am also inexperienced with this MG community messaging board, so my apologies if I'm not doing this according to plan.

Drop down glasses holder remove two screws, prise off complete body and push light holder back in place, fix both led bulbs in securely before re assembling do screws up job done

I don’t know if this will help others change the bulbs to LED but I also had the same trouble holding the holder securely. I used a small leatherman pair of pliers to hold the holders in place. I also filed the leading edges of the LEDs down as they are far too square to push in easily. (Make sure you turn the lights OFF before you start. And I found the LEDs need to be the right polarity. You can just rest the new builds in place to check) hope this helps someone.

See Post #30 remove the screws and pull the panel down, you then have easy access to the rear of the LED socket to stop it being pushed through.

I didn’t get that far as i can’t put a bulb back in currently without reseating the holder from behind. Hence my question.

It should be possible though as I did on my ZS

Dealer is going to take a look next week, hopefully for no cost in this case if they can do it quickly.
