Auto locking when walking away?

Picked up the Trophy today and getting used to it, but does it have auto locking when you walk away?

Had it on the previous car and got used to it.

Cheers!
I've made a guide for the lock and unlock features on the Trophy like others have said mine auto locks after 30secs

Auto lock after 30 seconds isn’t even close to walk-away lock.
It’s better than the car staying unlocked, granted, but still nowhere near the same as walk away.

But this autolocking does not occur if you have just left the car parked in ready mode. I do not know if it works if you shutdown using the info screen, perhaps it does. Unfortunately my car is charging at the moment and I want it to finish.

I agree. I don’t think if you park up and get out it will lock after 30 seconds.
I think the 30 seconds thing is if you unlock the car and don’t get in, it will re-lock itself.
My car does that, so do lots of others.

I think that's what it is it only works if the vehicle is off, i'll give it a go and see if that is the case.

I just realised I forgot to show how to manually unlock the drivers door on the video above 😃 so here it is

Auto lock in the Renault is (or certainly was) accompanied by the indicators flashing and a beep.
Now, it’s an interesting thing, as according to law you’re not allowed to have an ‘audio indication of alarm setting’
It must be ‘visual only’
This law was in force when we had the Renault, and it’s still in force now.
Yet my wife’s Evoque also does a beep on lock…(key locking, not walk away)
Does the Tesla beep on walk away lock?

Anyway, my point is the Renault would beep and you could comfortably walk away without having to look back.
In the movies , anytime someone locks a car it "chirps" ( assuming they bother to lock it at all!). It's always the same "chirp" what ever the manufacturer!

Ha!

Chirps are a funny thing, as if a car is fitted with an alarm it’s not allowed to chirp on activation.
Must be ‘visual only’
Our Renault with the walk away lock got around this by having central locking, but no alarm.
Yet our Evoque, which does have an alarm, chirps if you press lock twice….

So, in short, god knows! 🤷‍♂️ 😆

I think this is/was a US law, like the silly "Objects may be closer than they appear" written in all their door mirrors.

The MG4 chirps if you try to lock it with one or more doors/opening left open. Been useful for me.

Fantastic video thank you!
Really useful to know that after opening the boot only while rest of car is locked, if leaving the key in the boot and closing the boot, even though the lights will flash will still allow opening the boot. My other car would not allow this and would therefore lock you out!
What I didn’t see in the video though is how the Bluetooth key works:
When using the Bluetooth key to open the car, Start is allowed within your first 120 seconds. After that, the Start/stop button on the Bluetooth key must be pressed.
It also allows sharing the key with someone else who has the mg iSMART app and an account.

Thanks for the feedback I’ll do a pt. 2 on the digital bluetooth key I only discovered it in the app the other day… hidden in the my profile section not had a chance to try it yet.

Waiting for the new iphone to launch to replace my aging iphone X the battery is shot before I can rely on using my phone as a key.

Firstly, after my car had charged I tested the 30s walk away lock after the car had been started and then shutdown using the Power Off option on the Info Screen. It did not work after 2 minutes. So the 30s auto-locking is only the period within which you must open a door before the auto-locking activates.

Secondly, you do not need Bluetooth on to open/lock the car. The Bluetooth key is required for Starting the Car. Note, when I have used this function (under test not real conditions) I could not 'Stop' the car. (Probably the code is from a car where this is an option.) 'Stopping' requires a standard shutdown procedure.

Finally, if you could produce a video showing, stage by stage, how to share the digital (Start) key showing each mobile phone displays/actions, that would be incredibly useful as I have not found one.

I have an Android Moto Phone.

In my experience, if you put the car in Park then get out and walk away, forgetting to press the door button to lock it, it will shut down the screens and turn off the DRLs after a short time, so it looks just as it would if you'd locked it, but the doors aren't actually locked.

Except, if the car is sitting on a destination charger at the time, it will not do any of that. It will stay awake and the DRLs will continue blazing out into the darkness of the car park indefinitely. Ask me how I know. (Also, the app will refuse to lock the car and you have to walk back to the car park and lock it by hand once you realise what you've done.)

The Bluetooth key is required to open the car if you don’t have any network data and you forgot your key.
Once unlocked using the Bluetooth key you have 2 minutes to start the car otherwise it will complain ‘key not detected’
After two minute timer elapses you have to press the start/stop button on the Bluetooth key to enable you to start the car.
Sharing the key asks you to enter the details of someone’s mg account.

Unfortunately that is not my experience. As a test I put my phone into aeroplane mode and switched on Bluetooth. I then stood by the car and pressed the unlock button on the app. The app reported no network available but offered me the pin entry dialog. I entered my code but nothing happened. I did this test twice.
Could other posters let me know if my Trophy is not reacting properly.

Which unlock button? The one on the Remote Control page, or the one within the My Profile >> Digital Key page? If data is off but BT enabled, then only the DK option should work.

Finally got round to setting up the bluetooth digital key
