Just heard from MG. CCU needs to be replaced. courtesy car refused by MG and Dealership,
Had infinetly better service from local garage iwith previous cars,

I’d start by writing an email to MG CEO, followed by every MG social media handle highlighting the problem.

I’m guessing, you can still DC charge the car so that’s why they don’t want to provide loan car ?

Is your car on Finance ? If so contact finance company and discuss options.

I am happy other than the banging noise that you get when turning onto inclined driveways. Took it to the dealer and they inspected and couldn't figure out what was wrong.

Apparently lots of MG4 owners have this problem in Australia. Its a hollow bang/thud noise from the back of the car.

Oh yeah and the emergency braking event that happened when turning right. We have many intersections where you can turn right after giving way to straight going traffic and it gets confused into thinking you are going to crash into the guy coming the other way also turning right.

I wonder if UK cars have these issues also.
Search for the creak in rear/boot thread which UK owners have reported and a solution found.

Why not just post the solution in that thread? It was the rear tailgate catch, the loop it secures to was either lubricated or insulation tape wrapped around it.

I went for a test drive in the basic SR and was very impressed, definitely going to place an order in a few weeks time which will be for the interior facelift model later this year, not sure which model but probably a Trophy or Xpower.

Because the UK problem may not be the AUS problem so I believe it is better for them to view all the posts and make their own minds up about the UK solution. I do not know how to include a thread header so posted that they search for .

People often come to a forum for information (sometimes before purchasing) but also to get help with issues they have. This can sometimes give the impression that there are lots of problems when, in fact, happy owners, just get on and enjoy their cars without feeling any need to discuss them. Which leaves a disproportionately large proportion of threads posted here being about problems. So let's ask the question.

Are you enjoying your MG4?
Yes, 22,000 miles, mainly long journeys at or beyond range.

A great intro as our first EV. Would I do it again - yes. And possibly a SE again - only thing I miss on the SE compared to the other one is a reversing camera and rear wiper. But managing perfectly well without.

Yes range is quite variable, just know your charging options and get on with it. I drove 200 miles, Cornish border to Kenilworth at the end of storm Isha, heat & a/c on to keep windows clear and achieved 4.2m/kwh M5 A46, but it was a tail wind, return journey into storm Jocelyn, only just managed 3.0 m/kwh. It's a learning thing and not specific to MG!

Previously used to Toyota & Mini, their dealerships are professional and to my mind first/second tier of what you'd expect of a modern dealer, MG dealers are of a very questionable mix and probably the biggest surprise, very third tier.

Enjoying our MG4 - yes, would do it again, if I were buying now would be considering BYD as well, I wonder what they will do about a dealer network? if they went direct, i.e. BYD manufacturer showroom / service centre then that would give them an advantage.

Having slagged the dealers, £83 for a 15k service with another year of AA roadside, I suppose I shouldn't expect too much.

Going into six months and I still love the car, and the whole EV experience.

The only issue was a small rattle on the passenger side that was fixed DIY by removing a panel and sticking a bit of cardboard where the panel was rubbing to make the noise.

I haven't tired of the fun way it drives, and I find myself making extra trips just so I can take the car.

Yes

I've also had Nissan Leafs for 8 yrs. I still love my MG4 after nearly a year (apart from a few tech foibles). It's lighter than the Leaf, which felt more solid somehow. The radio is better, but the bluetooth / audio much worse, as are the controls on the display panel. So difficult to use when driving, where as the Leaf's were all buttons on the steering wheel or within reach. However, the MG range is fab, and it drives well. And it's so much better in bad weather in terms of road holding. A real game changer for me where I live.

Yes definitely!

I must admit I'm glad I didn't read these forums before I purchased "Snowy" or it might have put me off :)
I'm very pleased with it and don't regret buying it at all. Yes, there are some minor niggles with the software but they are mostly among the "gimmicks" that I never had in previous cars and there's always hope that they can be fixed with updates. As a car it works well and is a joy to drive. So much so I've started going out for joyrides just for the fun of it. Haven't done that since my teenage years :)

It's alright. The LKA drives me insane! Personally I think it's dangerous as on a straight road it pulls me all over the place because it can't read the lines. Constant Bluetooth unpairing also drives me nuts. I'm down to only 170mile range this winter and the infotainment screen constantly crashes!! Other than that, it's OK.

Ecstatic. Ok couple things you have to get used to but I think its one of the best things I’ve ever bought

Yes, great fun to drive. As above Bluetoot phone pairing sorted with software upgrade, made heating buttons bigger on the screen too which was good. At the end of the contract I just might go for an X-Power, the boss likes the green colour 😃

Just use voice control!

To dangerous faffing about with the screen or buttons whilst driving.

My situation is that I have Android auto.
Plug in the phone and then all my music commands are after a long press of the voice button.
E.G. "Play Massive Attack"
She says something like...
" Playing Massive Attack on Spotify"
Bingo.
Same for BBC Sounds etc.
"Play Radio 2"
And it plays.
I have the graphic equaliser set to Rock and have zero complaints about the audio "IF" played through Android Auto.

I have subs to YouTube and Spotify which makes playing music seamless.

You don't "need" to subscribe, but I have found that you don't always get what you ask for if you aren't 🤣

Yes, happy with the car. Appreciate the simplicity and ease of driving after nearly fifty years driving a manual. In common with others, I’d like to be able to set default options like LKA off, driving mode to ECO, traffic sign recognition/warning off etc. I’m the only driver, and I’m not about to change my options just because it’s a bit fiddly to set them every trip, so I don’t know why MG wouldn’t allow defaults. It gets a bit niggly if you’re making several calls and short trips in succession.

All good after 15,300 miles in 12 months. The sound system was pants so I upgraded the speakers and now that’s great too.
Hi Alan,

Could be so great and share the hardware you used to upgrade the sound system? I'm gonna have a new SE, but audio is really important to me. Even the Luxury had terrible speakers.

Maybe there's another thread this should go in, but I'm also interested in upgrading the audio, maybe. But having read other threads on this I don't want to try it myself. Are there workshops that will do the job for you?
