MG4 Windows dropping?

I've not had this happen on mine but I usually check all the windows are up before getting out anyway as I've left accidentally windows open slightly in the past and got the seats wet when it's rained.

Sudden traumatic flashback to waking up in the middle of the night in a friend's house in Brighton, woken by the sound of a torrential downpour. And remembering that I'd left the sunroof of my Peugeot open. That was a mopping out with towels job the next day, and sitting on a thick towel to drive home. (Alcantara leather seat, too.)

No! And you're absolutely sure they were up when you left the car? Because if you were you may be the first to be certain that it wasn't caused by an inadvertent touch to a button.

Dude, I was picking up my groceries outside of the car when one of the windows suddenly opened right in front of me. This isn't caused by user error.

Mine went through a spell of doing this, then stopped and it has never happened again.

More recently it went through a spell of trying to lock the car a few minutes after I got in - failing and plipping the horn twice, even whist I was driving off. That has now stopped of its own accord as well. I have very little faith left in the MG software.

Anyone know if this sort of thing is happening with other MG models or just the 4 ?
Picking mine up in a couple of weeks and the more I read.....
PDI 'special attention' list request is getting longer 'n' longer, which is somewhat worrying with a new car

Just checking you know Rolfe is a 'she'?

That confirms then that both things happen:
  • People often catch the buttons
  • The windows can open on their own

There have been an awful lot of car module updates since the car was launched, so I suspect this is about getting the right update to fix any bugs.

This would be supported if Phase 2 cars (more recently made and with higher software versions from the factory) don't have this problem.

It had happen to me a couple of times (both times it was the rear right window) in the early days but I have been paying closer attention when exiting the vehicle and it hasn't happened since. I'm now fairly sure it was my user error and not some random bug.

Mine has also been doing this occasionally. I think I'll start a new thread to see if anybody else has had it happen and whether there is a solution.

There are quite a few MG4 owners who have had this issue and I have been checking my wife’s 4 for a long time now so when she first had it this window open scenario happened a couple of times luckily it didn’t rain. I think the problem is with the window switches in the drivers door arm rest they are flush with the arm rest and the car is still switch on with everything still powered up until you lock the car so if you catch the switch even very lightly as your getting out of the vehicle a window switch can be operated and you may not notice there’s a window open so we have been turning the car off via the infotainment screen after checking all windows are closed before starting to get out and it as never happened since now this is just my thoughts on the matter of what can happen why they never put a stop /start button on this car is beyond me.
Les.
We had a window cracked open overnight last night - my wife had been in the back with the baby and as she got out today it happened again - she was touching the bit of the door where the window switch is without realising

I had it the other day (for the first time). We'd been out with the pooches on Tuesday to a country park for a walk, and when getting home Mrs. Guru got the dogs out of the car and then I locked it remotely. I suspect she caught the front passenger door switch when getting out, and I didn't notice. I only noticed on Wednesday evening that the window was half way down, and the front passenger side had got a bit of a soaking. 🙄 (The prevailing wind hits that side of the car).

I’m wondering if this is worth investing in to get around a few problems what it does is to disconnect the 12 volt battery via a remote. But if you did the app would of course also be disabled
