MG4 Software Update Thread

Stoneacre
The Version shown on the screen is only the Infotainment version. I also use Stoneacre in Spondon, I have had my Infotainment upgraded to R46 and also had a lot of other updates to other control modules. They will charge for the infotainment upgrade, unless you are having issues such as Bluetooth disconnections etc.

How did you find Stoneacre in Spondon?
My car is due to go there for it's first service next month.

The dealership is OK. I think my frustration is more with MG as a whole rather than the dealership. vehicle in 5 times in 6 months to fix the same issue the last time was 5 weeks long....

I think that's the general feeling about MG. Dealers are being held back by the manufacturer.

After having my infotainment update from R30 to R33 about a month ago, I'm plagued with the Bluetooth pairing issue. I have about 10 MG bluetooth devices on my android phone!

Car is going back in today. I'm hoping they can update to R46 like others appear to have had which clears this issue. Phase 1 car here.
I have the R 46 update and my radio has got stuck on one channel and will not change but everything else is fine

Trophy driver.

I can't read through 129 pages however had my first service today.

Am I correct in saying that any updates to the infotainment system were chargeable? I have to moan that something isn't working as it should before they will upgrade it - tbh I thought it would be done as a matter of course.

I am astounded.

Having said that I went in with (I think!) R30 and came out with R30. (No consumption graph etc). I did notice however that the ACC adjustment is 'flick for 1 mph, hold for 5mph - the reverse of what it was. (I use this a LOT in 20mph Wales)

Are the SE and Trophy versions different? The A/C controls look so much easier on other versions of the s/w I've seen.

They most likely update your front camera module which includes ADAS features such as ACC, TJA and LKA amongst others.
Your infotainment is most likely unchanged.

SE software is 1100Rxx while trophy sw is 1300Rxx
Latest SE version is 1100R33
Latest trophy version is 1300R46 but I think soon there will be an R58 rumor has it

Software updates are supposed to be applied as part of tbe servicing process (essentially they are part of the service price). Outside of regular servicing, updates are only applied to fix warranty issues.

Unfortunately some garages don't apply them unless hassled - either to save time or because of problems that day accessing the MG servers.

You could complain about this to your dealer. Updating the infotainment is pretty easy (it can be done via USB), so they should do it.

The ability to get updates at all is relatively new to cars. Yes, some makers offer free updates and OTA etc... but with MG you are at the low-cost end of the market. So it shouldn't be that astounding.

They have said they plan to offer OTA updates for infotainment at some point, but nobody knows when.

Same here after the latest Assistant-Update.
Also the car gives up braking into corners with active ACC.

Mine has never reduced speed whilst overtaking (even before the SW update) ... sometimes it'll reduce speed if I get "too close" before starting to overtake.
Does it then still keep reducing speed even after you used your indicator and are driving on the next lane?
Also, for a typical highway over here the minimal distance (one line) is too long.

No - that was the point I was making. Once I'm in the next lane then the car maintains speed (or accelerates back to it if I was too slow in changing lanes), provided that any vehicle in front maintains speed/accelerates.

1 line/bar is about 0.8 - 0.9 seconds following distance (per my non-methodical testing). In the UK the recommended following distance is 2 seconds, so that would be 2-3 lines. (I tend to use 2 lines in my MG4).

Well, mine does. Similar reports from others with luxury or trophys...
I would not know how much one bar actually is. I can imagine this is referenced to the car ahead of you. So, regardless your own speed if the car in front of you is doing 85kmh, one second distance would cause my car to reduce speed at around 23-24 meters distance. If the car in front is doing 100kmh, the distance will be around 27-28 meters.
I do not recall this to happen. What I do see is the speed drop is excessive, and more drastic with high regen active.

I always set regen to 'A' when using ACC for this reason.
