Granny lead not charging? Advice please

What he ^^ said ... the granny lead should be fine in a standard BS1363 socket for an extended period, as long as the wiring is good and the terminals are tight inside. I leave my car set at Maximum and just let the granny handle the charge rate.

Good to know. It shouldn't be an issue for much longer - Octopus finally woke up and gave us an appointment to have the smart meter changed next Friday, so as soon as that's done, we can go about getting the electrics changed over to install a charger, etc.

We're going to go and top Sleipnir up at Desford on the rapid charger on Saturday, partly so that we know how to use one (!), and partly because we're going out on Sunday and need rather more charge.

He's down to 24% and 49 miles remaining right now, and will be down to around 10% by the time I get home tomorrow, so we'll take him up to 80% on the rapid charger.

I would have liked to do a slow charge and take him up to 100%, in order to do a balance, but we haven't time for that. Since he's 4 months old, we don't know if the previous owner ever did a balancing charge, so it's on my list to do at the earliest opportunity.

I don't want to encourage anyone to go beyond their comfort zone on this, but from the day I got Caliban I have just plugged him in to the 13A socket in my garage and let him get on with it. The plug has never even been warm, even when I've done the long <10% to 100% charge over 26 hours.

My house is 28 years old, and the sockets in the garage are metal-jacketed, not the usual plastic things. This may help.

Neither, I think. We're quite happy charging Sleipnir at 8A, it's only going to be a top-up mostly anyway. And now that he's done a handshake with the lead, he seems to be quite happily drawing 1.9kW.

If I remember correctly the car 'forgets' the numbered charge current limit setting and defaults to 'ac current'. Given your 1.9kW report, assumed from the app, I would say that has happened.
