Removing the always-on overhead light?

It is supposed to put some light on the centre console tray so you can see where you are placing stuff. It does that when it's really dark, it doesn't bother me. What is far worse are the overbright screens when you are in rural areas. They are far too bright for me.
I bought these
And put window tint film on them before installing and problem solved. I used 35% vlt on the driver display and 50% vlt on the infotainment screen. Started with 50% & 70% respectively but they were still a tad bright on a dark motorway. Works perfectly and all of the details and colours look normal

You can turn of the screen or turn down the brightness. I usually turn off the screen in very dark roads.
