Yes, it is slower to release the parking brake than autohold as the actuators have to fully release the handbrake rather than simply lift the footbrake.
I don't know if this has been asked before, but if autohold is holding the car on the footbrake, do the brake lights remain on? Could be annoying to cars behind, especially at night.

Yes it has and yes they do. I use the electronic handbrake when the car behind has stopped.

Yes it does and I keep it on autohold. The MG4 doesn't have bright brake lights (unless you swap them for LED bulbs) or a big LED high level light. Never had an issue with doing this.

On the Trophy the annoying bit is probably the end to end light bar that comes on with the lights, but you cannot turn that off anyway.

I had the same issue with the mg 4 today. Incident happened at a traffic light intersection. as I turned right, through the intersection. a car turning right from the other direction triggered the emergency front collision auto stop. Violent stop and car stalled, where all gear controls were disabled for a few seconds. Lucky no cars hit me from behind, though drivers tooted me. As a result I have disabled front collision in mg pilot on main display.

I've got all the 'assist' stuff switched off and prefer to hold the car at a temporary stop with 'foot on brake' for that good old solid 'we ain't going nowhere til I say' feel.
Only had the car a week - love it but not ready to hand over my responsibility for car behaviour to 'computer says no' yet 🫣

I find OPD and the handbrake a good combination for traffic lights. Initially I found it had a bit of a jerk pulling away, but the slightest of dabs on the accelerator when the car ahead moves means the brake is off by the time you want to move a second or 2 later.

I prefer as much control over a car as possible so like you I turn off as many assists as I can.

I’m all for technology moving forward if it makes things easier, safer etc but when it doesn’t work it can cause problems.

& if the day comes I have to rely on this technology to drive a car, that will be the day I give up driving.

It probably is exactly what it is since you don't have to anymore: you will be driven....

I worked in IT for 30 years, mostly as a comms tech. Trust computers with my life - never!! 😂😂. ( obvs human input/error, rather than 'computers')

Had the exact same situation turning right at traffic lights. I've not used emergency front collision since it's unfit for purpose.

Yes and most times the car just goes into drive and away we go, but on occasions it will not engage D , it will not engage R , and as I stated before, on at least 2 occasions, all three were lit up and I had to switch the car off and on to get it to do anything. I asked the dealer, but they said they hadn't heard of this, and in fact seemed to think I was making it up.
Yep both my wife and I have had this when turning right. Had to press P and then back into Drive. It's scary waiting for someone to go into the back of you?
