I had my first service for my MG4 Trophy LR on Tuesday at SERE Belfast.

Whilst it was with them I got all these weird alarms on the MG app for braking system and airbag.

When I got it back there was no software update (for the entertainment system anyway), still on R30 despite telling me it would be updated.

No report of the battery health, just told all good and handed a new AA card saying I was covered for another year.

Does it look like they tried to update the software and cos of all the alarms they rolled back?

Car seems fine since.

Should I have expected R33 to be installed during the service? I mean in general are people finding their service centre does this as part of their first annual service?

You'll only get the latter stuff if you complaint/point out that there are problems with the infotainment system, otherwise they will assume you are happy with the system as it is. If you report issues then the updates can be done under warranty and you get your R46, .... I think

I didn't remember that there was a 1300R30 for the Trophy. :)

But yes ... when they run diagnostics and update module firmware then these app alarms happen.

As to other software - have you tried ACC since the service? If that update was applied then you'll find that the speed target changes in increments of 1 rather than 5, and that slowing down in sweeping bends no longer happens. :) Another update may have been to the ambient light sensor, to stop the headlights coming on too soon.

Well I guess it wasn't just me who got robbed off a software update (strong words I know, please don't kill me). My lesson from this is tell your service center everything you found wrong with the car and don't assume they'll just roll an update and it'll fix things.

Well in my case nothing was broken so I wasnt going to complain, and I just assumed they put you on the latest software as routine. I havent noticed anything difference since I got it back, but I've only had it out on a few short runs round town.

Didn't get any such notifications on my recent service. Got the entertainment update to R46. I'm strongly suspecting they didn't update anything else.

I got those messages as well while the mechanic was updating the main systems of the car.

Infotainment R33 / R46 is only a versionnumber for the infotainment system and not for other more critical systems like the MCU or BCU

Mine had its first service a few weeks ago . Software was all up to date anyway but i did get similar messages when it was updated. I did get a list of things checked with an idea of the battery state which was 100 per cent after 8k.

I've just completed 6K so hoping mine was at a similar level :D

Only just noticed since my car was serviced the charge ports light segments no longer light up whilst charging. The car is charging ok as the app and my hypervolt both show it, just the lights aren't working. Anyone else had this?

Search the forum ... this has been discussed previously, and can be fixed by either disconnecting the 12V battery for a few minutes (but means letting warnings clear when reconnected, plus recalibrating the steering wheel centre and window up/down controls), or pulling a specific fuse for a few minutes then reinserting (which doesn't require those recalibrations).
