Delay paying £190 car tax on EV until April 2026 (action needed before the end of March 2024)

I hadn’t seen this and was alerted to it today by this. https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/utilities/electric-vehicles/#need-10 I’ve just done mine. It wasn’t due to expire until end of June, but from my understanding I’ve saved more than £100?

    BP Pulse Problem

I tried to charge at two BP pulse chargers recently in Lewes and Littlehampton. Neither would charge my Trophy. The other, non-BP chargers in the area that I used worked just fine straight away. As did those on route and at home. I have read of BP Pulse/MG issues and experienced them. I've...

Dual CCS BP pulse 150kW charging problem?

Thanks. At both sites and multiple times, I followed the instructions to the letter. On both outlets on each charger. Yes, it is not a huge sample-size, but that the car charged immediately at a non-BP charger—Evyve—ten mins later and then again at an Instavolt further into the journey and then...

Dual CCS BP pulse 150kW charging problem?

Here in Feb 2024. I can report that BP Pulse Chargers in Lewes and near Littlehampton would not charge my mk1 Trophy. Not via the bp app or with my debit card. Both sides off both chargers report “an error setting up the charge “. Support line rebooted one of the chargers. No effect. The charger...

    No Charge flap open detection?

I got warned a few months back by the car - on screen graphic. When I was about to drive with it open. But since then I have left it open and driven and it hasn't warned me. So, some reliable inconsistency.

Do you name your car? If so what did you call it?

The Pumpkin. Because that’s what the orange reminds me of.

How do people cope with no rear wiper?

I've not missed having a rear wiper. Had one on my Prius and basically forgot it was there because I never used it. I did used to drive HGV's so do use my side mirrors a lot. I do use the rear-view mirror and haven't experienced any visibility issue due to lack of a wiper ... it is a smaller...

    One pedal driving survey

I’d like to try it. Having said that, I descended the Kirkstone Pass to Ulswater recently, I didn’t have to touch the brake pedal once. Thought I was hovering over it just in case. i quite like the regenerative braking as it is on eco but, yes, I don’t know what I am missing from one-pedal driving.

    DIY V2L cable "waterproof"? Or

Maybe check the integrity of the wiring in the washer plug and its cable. And or it may have some kind of issue that the car thinks is a faulty circuit? Don’t know, but I’d imagine something like that. Or it just doesn’t like domestic chores 🤡

    DIY V2L cable "waterproof"? Or

The water proof version of this at 5m length is £192 https://evcables.com/products/mg-vehicle-to-load-v2l-discharge-cable?_pos=1&_sid=af08de547&_ss=r&variant=43525418090746 Pretty sure one could source the cable and the weather resistant socket. Do anyone know if the type-2 end that plugs into...

    MG4 Software Update Thread

I’ve been lurking on this thread for sometime. My v1 trophy has no obvious software issues so am thinking if it ain’t broke don’t fix it etc. I looked yesterday and it is on R33. Would anyone who has updated from that to R46 say there is a noticeable benefit or the opposite?

Battery chemistry reason enough to go for the SE SR?

A couple of related observations or questions: With the NMC, when changing to 80 percent and leaving to the car to stop the charge as it it is set to “health mode”, I notice the charge it draws slows to low wattage and stays at that for an hour or more before it stops the session. Is this...

Is The MG4 The Most Enjoyable Car To Drive That You Have Owned.

I had a new MGF in a former life. I don’t remember it being as good a drive as my new very orange Trophy. And I am “owning it”. With what tyres would you replace the standard ones? And I am thinking I probably don’t have to worry about that here in Devon. As I assume you are thinking snow and ice?

Which route planning/charging planning apps are worth subscribing to?

Thanks. My initial impression of ABRP is that it is more useful. But not used it on the long road yet. I’ll try a month sub for my trip this week.

Which route planning/charging planning apps are worth subscribing to?

For route/charge planning, of the apps that have a subscription—Zapmap and ABRP are the ones I’ve downloaded and played around with—which if any do people think worth paying the monthly or yearly subscription and why?

    Charging *between* 80 and 95 percent ... ?

I've switched to Octopus having been fobbed off for nearly two years by British Gas saying I am on a waiting list for a smart meter. Octopus can't tell me when they can fit a smart meter until I've been with them a month, so that's in my diary. I'd not mind getting paid at least something for...

    Charging *between* 80 and 95 percent ... ?

Yes, since sometime in April we have effectively used no grid gas or electric. Only paying for utility’s standing charges, which Martin Lewis is right about being a disincentive for saving energy or investing in renewables. Before the Trophy arrived, I exported 1025 kWh to the grid for free...
