    MG5EV Breakdown - Warranty

I wish you the very best of luck. I had to threaten legal action against the dealer to get my issue resolved. No more MGs for me and can’t wait to get rid! Oh and just to add MG UK are about as useful as a chocolate tea pot and totally uninterested. They actually said to me “we don’t deal with...

    12V battery not charging

I wish you the very best of luck. It took the dealer 6 months (I was carless over the whole period) to resolve my issue with no courtesy car except for 3 days when I pleaded with them. And MG UK don’t want to know either. Unfortunately will never buy another one

    Relay Click at low speed?

I’ve had this. It might be coincidence but it happened just after the pipe failed for the rear wash pipe which sprayed washer water inside the car behind the dash in front of the drivers seat. Went back to the dealer for repair and it hasn’t done it since.

MG5 complete failure after wet road

Not just you, I can’t wait to see the back of mine too. Good luck with the Citroen

Oh sorry to hear that. In the end, I had to threaten legal action via a solicitor who specialised in dispute resolution. It was expensive but it did the trick and got the dealers attention. Sad state of affairs, it seems car dealerships operate a bit like the Wild West! I’m sure there are good...

rear wiper water leak under vin windscreen window.

I agree with you. However I took delivery of the vehicle (to replace my precious MG5 which they couldn’t fix after 6 months of trying!) from the main dealer in January and only had the vehicle a week or so when the failure happened. The washer reservoir was filled when I got it and I would...

rear wiper water leak under vin windscreen window.

Mine was done under warranty. I was given the same story about full dash out job but I’m not convinced that was done or even necessary. Unfortunately just another in a long line of MG5 issues I’ve had. I mean, what decent design engineer puts a vulnerable join in an inaccessible position on the...

The missing... [ No AC charging ]

I got it new. First 14 months were great, but then …………. Shame because I quite like the car

The missing... [ No AC charging ]

Oh dear! I won’t give the whole history of my MG5 experience but after the dealer having my car for 6 months (no courtesy vehicle at all) they couldn’t diagnose the fault. I had four breakdowns! After getting nowhere with them and with MGUK (who frankly are beyond useless) and resorting to...

    MG customer service is TERRIBLE!

Hi Les, no just 4 identical breakdowns. Fault remains undiagnosed and the only replacement vehicles I’ve had have been for the initial 3 days after each breakdown courtesy of the AA. After banging my head against a brick wall since June I’ve now put it in the hands of a solicitor. I can’t even...

    MG customer service is TERRIBLE!

Appalling is an understatement!!!! I’ve been without my MG5 since 3 June, yes that’s 6 months. Richmond and MG UK don’t seem to care. And no courtesy vehicle. For anyone thinking of buying an MG, my advice …. think again. I regret the day I ever walked in to the dealership.

    Dcdc charge fault??

I’ve had similar but in addition to the dcdc charge fault, I also got auto hold fault and most recently motor fault. The car also either shuts down or goes into limp home mode. This first happened on the 3 June and 4 breakdowns and 6 months later the fault remains undiagnosed and I’m left...

    Customer Service

It was just over a year old when the problems started. I did look at the consumer protection act but it seems a bit vague for cars that old when the problem started. I might see what citizens advice say.

    Customer Service

I’m afraid this isn’t an isolated incident. My MG has been with the dealer for 15 weeks and still undiagnosed and still unrepaired. The only replacement vehicles I’ve had have been for initial few days via AA assist and then for 4 days because I pleaded with the dealer. MG UK tell me to deal...

Anyone else getting these errors leading to breakdown?

Thanks everyone for the helpful replies. The car is now back with the dealer. So far they’ve had it a week and a half, so 13 and a half weeks in total. Let’s hope they fix is properly this time (and soon).

Anyone else getting these errors leading to breakdown?

The fault usually clears, sometimes within a few minutes, sometimes longer. And sometimes the cars been reset by the AA by disconnecting the 12V battery. Thanks for the tip about the charge port, I’ll flag to the dealer.

Anyone else getting these errors leading to breakdown?

No they didn’t, it was Richmond in Southampton. And to be honest getting information out of them was a nightmare. And it only seemed they worked on the vehicle when I chased them. In the end I took the car back after 12 weeks knowing in my heart it would break down again and hey presto that...

Believe it or not that was in one go.

Anyone else getting these errors leading to breakdown?

I’ve been getting repeated breakdowns in my MG5 pre face lift LR. I get “dcdc charge fault” followed by “auto hold fault” and then “high voltage battery disconnect” at which point the car stops. Dealer had the car for 12 weeks and saw the fault but couldn’t fix it. Got it back 2 weeks ago and...
