Cobham M25 services for EV charging

Also, remember that you dont have to use motorway services stations to charge up. They are often quite busy and with no way to queue it can be a stressful process. Although with 18 you'd think you'd be fine. But places with lots of chargers also entices all the EVs to go there too. I've been...

How do I tell if my car is a GEN 1 or GEN 2?

Hi If your car is 2022 it could be either gen 1 (2019-2021) or gen 2 (2021- present). There is no long range gen 1 - all three models had the same range, around 160miles fully charged. Gen 1's have a charging port that swings upwards. Gen 2's has a charging port that opens to the left. And as...

    Not gone, but not used..

Love that! Driving electric is just a different mindset, plan ahead a bit, keep if fully charged if you use it a lot, and try not to live too far away from anywhere! I've loved having our MG for 4 years now, and only 2/3 times a year do I need to do a journey that it more than 150 miles (or...

ZS MK1 Range and your experience?

We frequently go from London to Loughborough on one charge, often leaving us with 30 miles left. Not quite as much in the winter but definitely still do able. There are plenty of motorway chargers on the way to top up 10/20 miles in 10min just in case. We have an exclusive which has held up...

Planning holiday to Cornwall: are there enough chargers available?

We frequently visit cornwall and generally haven't had too much of a problem. During school holidays it's gets hard to find a free rapid charger though. Exeter services has 12 new chargers, plus another 12 being installed. The downside is that everyone knows it so it gets very busy. Any idea how...

    First experience of public charging...

Having had a MS ZS EV since 2020, I generally use Zap Map to find chargers but then go through my selection of RFID cards to see whcih is compatible. Electroverse (Octopus Energy) is often cheaper than using a credit card, Charge Map is excellent in Europe and Shell Recharge is good in London...

    Battery Range > 300miles 4.6m/kwH - 481m round trip

Just regarding the 90min overstay penalty...On Rapid chargers the charging speed drops massively once the battery is 80/85% charged, so the generally the charging ettiquette is to stop at that point to allow others to charge. This isnt of course why McDs have the penalty, but it does stop people...

    Visiting France

Hi we took our Mk 1 MG to the Centre Parcs near Laon last summer. Relatively easy to charge up. But centre parcs do not have deidcated charge points. They did however allow us to use granny charger at the reception parkign area. It was quite popular over the week so we had to keep looking to see...

First MG ZS EV long journey...

If you've an LR you should be able to do it in one go surely? If you go m4, then jump down to the A303 via A33 that is the shortest route, 183 miles. But even going m4/m5 is 192 - winter range is about 220 isnt it? As others have said, the A303 is better if you're worrying about mileage...

Saving driving mode with the MG ZS EV 2022

Anything under 50kw will do an equalisation i believe. Rapid is only 50kw and above. Fast and Slow and 50kw and below. Basically if you use the Type 2 cable, it will equalise.

    Is "ECO" Mode Misleading?

This is the accumlated total, over 5k miles. I cant get he same efficiency in normal mode. Belive me ive tried - would prefer to have better aircon. I'll just reiterate it again for the last boring time - I'm not saying Eco mode magically invents more battery capacity. It just makes it easier...

    Is "ECO" Mode Misleading?

I think he got out of the wrong side of bed today too... As I have said above, you can't do a range test on real roads over two journeys, that's what is nonsense. There's too many variables. This is from my 2.5 years driving experience with this car. Stating 'facts' like you do isnt helpful...

    Is "ECO" Mode Misleading?

I generally find forums work best when people give their own experiences, and not when they're used to shoot down other people with their opinions - as well as reading the posts before replying. I am sorry if you disagree and maybe I should have phrased it differently. So just to clarify... I...

    Is "ECO" Mode Misleading?

There is a noticeable difference in eco mode, in the power and the aircon. It doesnt magically increase the range of car, but it does make it more efficient, and get the most out of the battery. It's impossible to test unless you are in a factory, but I would put money on it giving my Gen 1...

    Let's have some positivity......

I agree Steve. I love my Gen 1 Exclusive, despite some of its faults. It was a bargain at time, but even if EVs are more expensive than their ICE rivals, I think paying a bit more is worth it to keep fossil fuels in the ground. That was my main impetus for going EV.

What's the lowest you've ever let your battery get to, and were you worried?

I have frequently gone under 5 miles, after which on the Gen 1 the range is replaced with a dash (it's sometimes 10, not sure why). This is partly due to the availability of fast chargers near where I live. The council have put 100s in lamposts within a mile of my house. But also, using Google...

    Mk1 service plan

Just got my second year service done for £150 at Richmond MG in Guildford. They quoted me £260 but I didn’t complain…software update done as well as seemingly fixing the intermittent air con issue, without actually doing anything. I wonder if it was the pollen filter?!
