    Soh after 20k miles

That's a surprisingly small price difference. It never was this small in Australia, I believe it started at A$ 6000 (almost 4000 Euros), and by now has narrowed a bit, but still adds more than 10% to the overall cost in most states (after susidies). For a mere 1000€ I would certainly have...

    Soh after 20k miles

Not only that, range of NMC is not what it is made out to be. The Mk1 ZS EV makes available only a tad over 90% of the battery, the rest is buffers. And they failed to adjust the advertised range to reflect that. That meant instead of 263km it would have been a 240km vehicle when brand new...

    Soh after 20k miles

Based on the 44.5kWh I take it you've got a Mk1 vehicle? When I had that one the SOH seemed in line with the range I was getting, and it changed in irregular intervals in slightly irregular steps. I took that to mean it actually was measured. Whether those measurements were correct, who knows...

Post your MG ZS EV battery SOH data please

Ouch, that is lower than what one would have hoped for looking at early Teslas. I wonder if they used different buffers, and the decline slows down a lot soon, or whether the MG batteries are not as good as the ones in Tesla cars. I would have thougt, being from CATL, they would be top notch. :-(

MG ZS EV essence 2023 - lower kms than promised 320kms

All depends on car and driving style. With the Mk1 ZS EV there has been one big issue: the NMC battery has buffers at both the bottom and top end that you don't get to use. But as far as I can tell they never adjusted the WLTP range (or GOM) to reflect that (that still uses 100% battery...

    12v battery losing charge

Based on extrapolating my observations on a ZS EV Mk2, and assuming you don't have any appliances that contribute to the ongoing battery drain, like a hardwired dash cam: 2 weeks should be fine if the 12V battery is fully charged at the start of that period and the car has no fault that causes...

    12v battery losing charge

I too can't find the "intelligent charging" happening. If it works for anyone, it would be great to know at which 12V battery voltage it kicks in, what the minimum SOC of the HV battery is for it to work, and how often the voltage is checked. I'm just back from a 3 week absence, and was very...

    12 volt battery charging

Hi Surfdog, your comment is the first and only one so far that I found that confirms that the 'intelligent charging' of the 12V battery (as described in the user's manual) actually happens. Could you please fill in some more details for me to understand better? How do you monitor the 12V...

MG ZS EV Mk1 usable battery capacity

Yes, that's what suspect happened here. What if it supplied 37 or 38 kWh and only charged you for 35kWh? What if they do that to compensate for the 95% charging efficiency, to make sure you actually end up with 35kWh to use when you pay for 35kWh?

MG ZS EV Mk1 usable battery capacity

Yes, there is hidden capacity. But no, you can't use it and drive below zero, the car won't allow you to completely drain (and likely damage) the battery. The car does not charge to 100% actual SOC. For the Mk1, in the 2021 BMS version, the display shows 100% when the actual SOC is 94%. And...

MG ZS EV MK2 - LFP (standard range) - Battery SOH Theory

Hi, the 256 is a fixed constant that comes from the way the numbers are extracted from the return value a query gets on the CAN bus. A and B are successive 8-bit values in a longer number. To look at it as one 16-bit number, (A*256+B) is the formula. Dividing by 100 creates 2 decimal digits...

    ZS EV Mk2 12V battery auto-top-up?

It could be measuring wrong, giving a false alert, or it could fail to charge the 12V battery. If you have a voltmeter, measure directly at the battery, or there are very cheap devices that plug into what used to be called the cigarette lighter socket that show voltage. When the car is...

    ZS EV Mk2 12V battery auto-top-up?

Here's a chart of that episode. Not happy, big software bug there!

    ZS EV Mk2 12V battery auto-top-up?

I wouldn't leave the car in Ready mode for a few weeks though. And actually, the lowest 12V voltage I've observed was when the car was in Ready mode for a few hours, then decided to disconnect the HV battery and still drain the 12V at an alarming rate.

    ZS EV Mk2 12V battery auto-top-up?

When researching the differences between Mk1 and Mk2 I came across the information that the Mk2 can top up the 12V battery from the HV battery when the car is stationary for a while and voltage of the 12V battery drops. Has anyone actually observed this happening? Is it is triggered by a...

MG ZS EV MK2 - LFP (standard range) - Battery SOH Theory

If you have had yours longer it would be the Mk1, previous model with NMC battery. This discussion thread would not apply. You can still read out information the same way. For occasional use: ELM327 OBDII dongle that connects via Bluetooth with the eZS Android app For constant monitoring: OVMS...

MG ZS EV MK2 - LFP (standard range) - Battery SOH Theory

"Make it look" are the operational words, when if fact it is the opposite. Your software lies to you when it still gives 100%, ours lies to us when it shows SOH drop every day. I guess we need to bring this issue to MG's attention, so they can fix their software. Any chance you could have a...

MG ZS EV MK2 - LFP (standard range) - Battery SOH Theory

Yes, and drops of 0.01% are well below what it could reliably measure. For the Mk1 ZS EV, once it started dropping at all after almost 1 year, the smallest I've seen was 0.12%.

What MG ZS EV battery do I have?

For the LR they had to stick with NMC to make it fit the available space and to keep weight manageable. I'm kind of glad that here in Australia we only get the standard range, saved me from having to make a difficult decision. Other than weight and volume, LFP has several advantages...

MG ZS EV MK2 - LFP (standard range) - Battery SOH Theory

Only just saw your attachment. The measured values line up perfectly with my prediction: 22/12/23 to 15/1/23 are 24 days. Calculated decline in SOH: 24 * 0.0104% = 0.25%. Actual decline in SOH: 96.82% - 96.57% = 0.25%. I assume you set the day you go the car to 100%, but didn't actually check...
