Competition for the MG5 is on the horizon

The Astra will win on the looks department at least..

    KERS!

Isn't KERS1 more efficient, not due to the regen, but it slows the car down in a more predictable manner, especially when no one is behind, so not needing to press the throttle again to keep up. On a slightly different note, what's that motorize type noise when applying the breaks sometimes...

    KERS!

Just a general observation, we hear people driving around usually in Kers3, I usually drive around in Kers2 and normal mode, but recently for a few days was driving in Kers1 instead, I noticed the m/kwh is around .5 better on usual routes which is a mix of motorway and in town driving. Has...

    BP Pulse - Not Charging

There are few of these installed in a local carpark (on the wall), these chargers are around 6 months old at best. Went to charge today and after starting the charge via the app the car makes the noise as it's about to to charge and the charge point changes colour and then briefly goes red but...

Snow, steep hills and the MG5 LR

I've noticed the lunge behavior a few times when applying the brakes gently, where the car slows down and then there is sometimes a bit of lunge forward before the friction brakes like take over, at least that's the impression I got.

    Dashboard reflections in windscreen

I've noticed the same issue for a while. It's worse when driving in country roads when the sun comes through the trees.

    Range / Mpkwh

Once the temp is over 20C even with the AC on, I can get 4+ on a 10 mile journey.

    Parking

I drove a Passat the other day and found it was easier to park than the MG, something about the wing mirrors, it appears as if you can see more in the Passat that the MG when bay parking. Though the MG's camera does help finalizing the parking.

    Regen

I as usually drive in Normal Mode, kers2, not sure why it suddenly seems to have lost a quite a bit of the slowing down in regen as the difference is noticeable than before with having to use the brakes a bit more and also the brakes seem to have a different feel to it. Also it's interesting...

    Regen

The first time I started noticing was after charging the battery on AC to around 95%, didn't think much about it initially as I've previously noticed when the charge % is high like this the regen was limited, but even after it dropped below 80% it was around 10c on the regen didn't feel as...

    Decisions decisions

In the last few days when the temp was 10c plus on a 20 mile journey I was seeing around 4 m/kWh with a medium load. This was doing 50 max due to the road conditions.

    Regen

In the last few days I've noticed the regen doesn't seem as strong as it used to, while according to the dash it's regen'ing (the needle goes to the charge bit around as before and Amp numbers are in the negative) but the car doesn't seem to slow down as it used to before. I usually drive in...

    Turning off the alarm

I've also noticed if you press the lock button on the remote when the car is already locked, the alarm goes off.

Why are legacy car makers so behind in the EV game?

Tesla is an outlier case, not many other new Western manufacturer has been able to start fresh with a now in use product range. In terms of making manufacturing in the UK the support industries are no longer here, like they were in the past, where every bit of of the car would have been from...

Good Practice for Battery Life and Home Charging

This could get a bit like the DPF in the diesels, where they seem to be designed from the view that people will do long journeys to clear it out once in a while and it seems like with the battery balancing that people will be charging it to 100% on AC once in a while, without considering like...

Good Practice for Battery Life and Home Charging

What sort of impact would there be, say if only rapid charged regularly to 80% from around 30% so after how many of these chargers would a balance be due? Also shouldn't the battery balance be due to usage than time, i.e the more miles you do to let it balance more often?.
