Authoritative and Interesting Info re EV Fires

This is from the BBC site and seems genuine to me The crews bracing themselves for a rise in electric car fires I found it quite interesting.

Delay paying £190 car tax on EV until April 2026 (action needed before the end of March 2024)

As far as I understand, yes, we can choose to re-tax our cars whenever we want.

    MG Assistance -or Not!

I collected the car today. The dealer has replaced the CCS (as in Central Control System, not Combined Charging System) and I’d say the car’s now running more smoothly than ever. And I wouldn’t want to go through that again . . .

    MG Assistance -or Not!

Just a quick update. The dealer has now had a look at the car but is unable to reach a diagnosis and is in discussion with MG. At least it's now in hand and, for me, that's a relief (no matter how long it takes to resolve things from here). I'll post further updates as and when. Thanks so much...

    MG Assistance -or Not!

Hi all. If I may, I might as well join in here. In a nutshell, until a week ago my MG5 Long Range has been faultless in 18 months and 20k miles. Then one morning it simply refused to start (yes, as you probably guessed, 'system fault'). After a 35 minute wait for the AA to answer my call, the...

Do you keep a 'charge log'? ⚡️

Yes, for my 2022 LR MG5, because I have to use public charging and want to compare costs to my previous EV (a Peugeot iOn). With car park fees in my area rocketing, and the 3kW lamp post street chargers costing £0.60 per kWh, as I hoped I'm noticing a big difference. Weekly charges with the MG...

Sandicliffe MG Loughborough - MG Dealer Discussion, Opinions & Experiences

Sounds as though you got a really good price. Mine was 208 (including air con refresh) for 13k miles. I thought they stopped doing the teddies quite a while ago!

    MG Assistance Renewal Period

My long range MG5 Excite has just had its first service (13k miles) at the excellent Sandicliffe MG Loughborough (reviewed on the UK Dealership thread). I gave it a few days and then checked with the AA to make sure the MG Assistance has been renewed. It has - until 1st January 2026 - which was...

Sandicliffe MG Loughborough - MG Dealer Discussion, Opinions & Experiences

My long range MG5 Excite had its first service this week (13k miles). I was impressed with the advertising for Sandicliffe MG at Loughborough (UK East Midlands) and decided to give it a try even though I bought the car elsewhere and I also have another MG dealership just around the corner...

    Car wash

Yes, the charge port door can indeed be opened by the brushes. It happened to me! Since then I’ve always locked the car while in the wash and no further problems. Re roof bars, I don’t have that worry (Excite).
