Just booked mine in for its second service and the dealer has had no notification of any software updates for my model (pre-facelift MG5, registered 22). It's disappointing, but about what I expected.

Not only is it OK but it's necessary to charge to 100% periodically to allow the battery pack to balance itself. It's all in the manual.

If it was me I'd try using a public fast charger and see how that performs. If it works OK your home charger's the problem, if it doesn't the car's the problem.

At first I was a bit disappointed at the lack of an app, but the only thing I'd ever use it for is to check the state of charge and that's no big deal. I never use the infotainment system unless I need to change a setting.

I've read about doing that, but it sounds iffy at best. You're probably right that there won't be much to update. Hopefully they only schedule strictly necessary updates for servicing anyway - that would make sense for both the user and the dealers.

I hear what you're saying about 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' and I agree. But if there are some bug fixes for known issues surely it's better to have them done - just because it hasn't gone wrong yet doesn't mean it never will. As far as what I'm hoping for it's basically to see the satnav...
