Might be worth hunting out the the emergency cable release - you have to remove the main plastic cover under the bonnet - once you've found it, extend it (I used a couple of zip ties) so you can reach it without having to remove the plastic cover!
You're welcome. :-)

Just catching up on this as my port has similar issues. What I’m doing at the moment is pulling the catch back out as it’s definitely not springing out fully on its own (I have tried spraying it with silicone spray etc).
When I pull it out it slightly rotates as well then always engages with...
I used them on my trip across France. First time the app wouldn't recognise the location - well it knew where we were and that there were chargers free but wouldn't recognise that I was selecting a charger - in the app! :-( Call customer services and they were very helpful and spoke great...
Just to add to this, "A Better Route Planner" app is worth the investment to use with CarPlay in your car. Once you have an account and tell it your car, it can recommend places to stop depending on which options you choose.
Personally, speed is makes a huge difference here, way more than with...
Sorry I missed this response.
The new shocks didn't solve the knocking, they had it back to go over again but still not resolved. It sounds more and more like a cable knocking somewhere and definitely not suspension related.
kind of given up now. :-(
My dealer haven’t said anything else but I’ll report back after taking out the technician in the new year.
For prospective new owners, I wouldn’t worry too much. The car is great value for money and I’m very happy with it but also aware it’s a “cheap” car and corners have to be cut to get the...
ust done my first longish drive in the MG5 long range. Birmingham to Harlow, M6,A14, M11.
Cruise control set at 65mph and flowing traffic all the way.
Used 73% battery for 128 miles.
Got exactly 3m/kw which is reasonable if not outstanding I suppose.
Stopped at local BP Pulse rapid charger...
Just to put your mind at rest, I totally have this too!
Had the rear shocks replaced under warranty but no change.
To me it almost sounds like a heavy cable or similar knocking against the chassis or body.
It also doesn’t seem related to going over bumps etc,But twisting the car is a good...
It's going to be really difficult to answer that first question, for most of us, this is the first winter with the long range though obviously previous experience in other cars might be applicable.
As always driving style generally makes by far the biggest difference to range but ambient...
It was a fairly random knocking noise, not consistent with going over speed bumps etc. I even wondered if it might be a loose cable hanging down somewhere.
Good luck.
Hi everyone, long time lurker! :p
So picked up my MG5 Long Range on 1st September - go #teamRed - and this week just ticked over 1000 miles.
From new I noticed a slight knocking noise coming from the back to the car and after removing everything from the boot area etc and searching for...
I leave mine plugged into a granny charger on a timer and over several days it will top up the car in the 4 hours Octopus Go window.
I think the handshake issue was fixed in a previous update.
I had the front wheels chirping a few times after picking up my car. Took me a while to realise they were over inflated from the dealer, 38psi instead of the recommended 32psi.
Might be worth checking before buying new tyres etc.
Hi Everyone
Before I take a trip to my local dealer (who I have zero faith in), has anyone had issues with the rear seats not clicking back in place?
Specifically, the larger twin seat is proving VERY reluctant to engage with the hook.
Have managed so far but only by repeatedly slamming the...
