    Reduced power mode at 23%

In terms of efficiency, there is a big difference between 60 and 70. I used to tailgate lorries in my 2017 Ioniq so I noticed way better m/kWh at 60 than tailgating coaches at nearer 70. So if you’re kind of low on charge and it’s cold, play it safe. Also don’t treat EVs like ICE cars when it...

My trip in a Tesla model 3

I test drove the ORA Cat yesterday. And the MG4 and refreshed ZS EV last year. In many respects they are all better than my Model S. Significantly in price, obviously. But the main reason I bought the S (as well as it being my dream car) is frustration after 5 years battling against the public...

    Think we have been hacked.....

Thanks, everyone, for your input. It’s a testament to the nature of this forum’s members that, until now, there hasn’t really been a significant need for the appointment of any moderators and it’s just been myself dealing with duplicate posts (happening so often that I think there is a technical...

Plug in grant value changed along with eligibility criteria

I strongly suspect that MG and other brands where their cars are close to £35k will drop the price to make cars eligible. Two things here. Killing the grand for PHEVs is a good thing in my opinion. I don't like them as they contain the complexity of an ICE and EV combined. Plus it will hit...

    Regen. when braking - how?

The friction brakes can actually suffer from rust because they are used so little. A mechanic at my Hyundai dealership told me that he saw an Ionic (first generation) with 100,000 miles and the disks and pads were like new.

Can I limit charging to 80% and if so how?

I have three (off topic) points to make in response to your post and that which you replied to. First, not knowing about not being able to limit the charge to 80% is somewhat of a novice omission nowadays, but then there is nothing wrong with being a novice as we all are at first...

    rapid charging battery percentage

We’ve discussed this topic on the podcast. Consumers can’t expect lower cost products to be the same quality as higher cost products, so they shouldn’t be surprised when there are obvious cost cutting measures or make sweeping statements about the output of a whole country. Having said that...

Long Range Used Price in few years estimates

Steady. More comments like this and you'll get a warning or a ban. We have a sense of humour, but we don't tolerate racism. The 'jokes' here show a very dated sense of what is acceptable and the posters and those who positively reacted to them need to educate themselves on what is and isn't...

The word you're meaning is Chinese, it may not be a Chinese computer (could be sourced from a third party unless you know different) and what's wrong with Chinese computers? Think carefully before answering.

Starting to lose a bit of faith

A screen going black like this is, I’m guessing (as a former software developer) just a simple crash due to a bug (or several) which hasn’t been ironed out because it takes more time (I.e. money) to perform more tests on the software. The more complicated the product, the more expensive the...

The day started badly and just got worse....The Genie bit me

Well let's establish that there is a real issue before we start consigning the entire network to the bin on the basis of one or two anecdotal accounts. The poll is here: https://www.mgevs.com/threads/what-are-your-rapid-charging-experiences-with-geniepoint.2361/

What are your rapid charging experiences with GeniePoint?

Following @Stuwit46’s thread here https://www.mgevs.com/threads/the-day-started-badly-and-just-got-worse-the-genie-bit-me.2356/ Have you had success or failure charging your MG5 on a GeniePoint rapid charger? Please vote and post your experiences, thanks

The day started badly and just got worse....The Genie bit me

Feels like maybe GeniePoint chargers are so incompatible with the MG5 that not only don’t they not work, but they also confuse the car to the point of inoperability. We should organise a poll. Ask MG5 owners whether they have had success or failure charging on GeniePoint rapids.
