    Strange warning message

I was driving down the A34 with CC set at 60, one passenger and a fairly heavy boot load - going on holiday. For no apparent reason I got the chime warning and a message "Please hold wheel", never seen this before - or since. There were several repeated warnings, eventually it came up in red...

    MG5 mark 1 charging

We have recently travelled with Brittany Ferries, Portsmouth - Caen and return, on the outward trip all EVs were marshalled in the same lane and boarded first, resulting in being offloaded first! On the return trip although we were given a large EV sticker on the windscreen, we were loaded...

    Insurance, crazy renewal

Same problem here, quotes 23 days ahead were from £2055(Saga) and £2022(LV) to lowest of £966 (Admiral). Last year was £760 (LV). 9 years ncb with a couple of minor parking bumps over the last three years. I guess age may be a major factor, 85 this year! This for a May 2022 MG5 exclusive LR.

    1st service cost MG5 (2022 older model)

Apologies to MG Oxford, a senior moment! Although there is no service book as such, as well as the video I did get a visual safety check report, and a 2 page Maintenance Check Sheet. Sufficient to act as a record of service work done.

    1st service cost MG5 (2022 older model)

No paper service record offered - all now on computer. They did say that they would notify the AA and renew membership for another year. Will check that this has been done.

    1st service cost MG5 (2022 older model)

Just had my first service done at Oxford MG at 8500 miles. Cost was £120 inc VAT which I thought was reasonable, complete with descriptive video, topping up fluids and cleaning inside and out. Shame it takes a couple of hours to get home after leaving the car, two buses and about a mile and a...

Tyre Pressures, which reading should I trust?

We are off to France next week, four adults and luggage, and will be bringing back a few bottles no doubt. All the information I can find suggests that there is no need to adjust tyre pressures for a full load, but to use the standard 2.2bar all round. I checked the pressures yesterday and the...

Which roof box and rails system are you all using?

A bit more info, my roof box is marked Karrite, and was bought from an auto spares shop in Oxford about 35 years ago. It is universal fit - I have used it on 8 other cars before the MG. Unfortunately the overall height is 2.05m, so it might not get into a lot of hotel car parks and also...

Which roof box and rails system are you all using?

I used the roof bars from my previous Skoda Kamiq. Only needed the end clamps to be moved out about 5mm for a perfect fit. My roof box is now about 20 years old but still serviceable, tried it this week with a 50Kg load of logs and no issues at all. We are off to France next month and will use...

My Solution for Rear Number Plate on MG5

Here is my take on the 'black bar' issue. Remove the bolts, in my case a star screwdriver no 30, not an Allen key. Lightly rub with fine wet and dry paper and clean off with white spirit. Spray two coats of plastic primer, I used an old rattle can I already had, followed by two coats of...

    How did he do that?

Many thanks for the replies, I have only had the car a couple of months and am still learning! There were in fact six charging bays, only two were in use when I arrived, I took number 6 and number two was in use. When I got back the chap who took 'my' connector was parked diagonally across bays...

    How did he do that?

I parked my MG5 in Love Lane carpark, Nantwich yesterday and connected to the charger there. The car was charging when I left, and I had of course locked the car. When I returned about 40 minutes later the car had been disconnected and another car was using the same connector that I had used...

Satnav issue not solved by dealer

That might well be the answer, but why does the the Infotainment Manual issued with the car, version 1 2021 on p 58, and the online version on page 55 say 'Alert Points: Touch it to receive a warning when approaching Alert Points like school zones or railroad crossings"; and why do the alert...

Satnav issue not solved by dealer

Hi, Yes I have read both the one supplied with the car, version 1 2021, and one downloaded today from MG. There are just two sentences about Alert Points, the issue I have is that touching the required alert produces no response from the unit. When I had a test drive in a MG ZS I was impressed...

Satnav issue not solved by dealer

I have a month old MG5 LR and am trying to personalise the satnav. My aim is to activate the audio and visual warnings for locations such as schools, hospitals etc. Although I have found my way through the settings menu, and then pressed 'close' the satnav refuses to co-operate. I spent a happy...

    MG 5 charging in France

Thank, that has saved me about £200 buying a cable I don't need.

    MG 5 charging in France

Thanks for the info, as a novice I was relying on the latest info from Chargemap, which I have just downloaded. It says "In France you will need another cable with a Type 3c plug." It seems that there is a continuing change to EU standards, but not yet complete, most of the sites on Chargemap...

    MG 5 charging in France

I have recently bought an MG 5 Long Range, and am planning to take it to France next month. I have seen conflicting reports about the need to take a cable with a Type 3c connector. Looking at Chargemap most charging points seem to be Type 2, but there is little information about motorway service...
