Unfortunately, in my experience, most people would sacrifice a few miles/kwh or mpg for something that looks good. Check out all those folk that drive 4wd gas guzzlers that will never need 4wd in their driving life! People should care but......
Agree with you Stuart re charging infrastructure.
However, I don't believe all cars will end up teardrop shaped for the lowest possible drag co-efficient. More likely battery technology will (is!) improve(ing) and car shape will become less important.
I find that my phone has to be "live" (can't think of a better word!) prior to plugging in. In other words showing the main screen. Not blank or a screensaver.
Only when Android Auto is up and running does the Android Auto button on the car main screen work.
Some low mileage cars may still have been charged using DC rapids as there were a fair number of free chargers 2+ years ago (specially in Scotland).
I think that's why my 20 plate ZS EV is 95% SOH! I just couldn't resist my local free rapid charger!!
Nov 2020 MG ZS EV Exclusive
At last service - mileage = 13,000 SOH = 95% and GOM showing range of 155 miles (Mode = normal).
Not great but to be expected according to the service manager. Still fine for my purposes but will probably hasten my trading it in for something else.
A couple of times I have had 5 miles/kwh on journeys of about 40 miles in mid summer.
I try to drive as smoothly as possible without unnecessary acceleration or braking. I've certainly altered my driving style since getting the EV.
ZS EV Gen1 Nov 2020 Mileage 15,000 (approx)
Winter months 3.0 miles/kwh
Spring/Autumn months 3.5 miles/kwh
Summer months 4.0 miles/kwh
These are averages.
My battery has degraded by 5% so usable capacity is 40kwh.
So, winter 120 miles, spring/autumn 140 miles, summer 160 miles. Mostly A and...
Last month I used the Tesla chargers at Aviemore. Straightforward using their app. Only issue was the very short length of cable meant I had to position my ZS EV a couple of times before I could get the cable to the charge port.
I would guess from MG's point of view that they would look at the failure rate before making changes/upgrades.
What appears to be a high percentage of failure from the evidence of a forum could be tiny when looking at the whole picture.
Don't understand why it's so important that the age of a car isn't easily determined from the number plate.
I can understand having a "funny" number plate but just to hide the car's age....hmmmm!
I see your point.
However, if I owned a Tesla and rolled up to a supercharger location to find all the chargers being used by non-Tesla vehicles then I wouldn't be too happy.
Point I made was the price of a Tesla would indicate that a portion was used to create/maintain the super charger...
