So dangerous gearbox gap in acceleration.

The lag I experience is usually at 80 km/h and very momentary. Never been dangerous . Yours sounds worse than it should be so bring it to your dealer to have it checked out .

    Charging Phev battery

If you live on a hill and the start of your day is driving downhill for a considerable time, you could recharge to about 61km range. This is because if the battery is fully charged, it does not like regenerative charging going downhill, and the ICE engine...

    Charging Phev battery

I treat mine like my phone - charge it every day . I have a standard timer on the wall socket which limits charging to off peak or shoulder times , so I don’t end up charging at peak rates. As my daily commute is less than 20km this suits me just fine. I could , at a push , charge every other...

Boot spare light socket or something else ?

Good to know , as I could not find any reference to it in my manual .

Boot spare light socket or something else ?

Does anyone know what this might be ? I initially thought it was a spot for a boot light in left hand drive vehicles . When I opened it up , there was a loop of cable or wire like a pull toggle . Could be see if there was a wiring socket behind it….

PHEV buyers remorse - and I've not yet got it! Please advise.

Acceleration time is 6.9 sec to 100kmh. (Near Golf GTI ). I screeched the tires when driving out of the dealership on the test drive. EV mode is near silent, with a nice soft jet -like whine. So much so when the ICE kicks in , it seems rough in comparison . I...

PHEV buyers remorse - and I've not yet got it! Please advise.

No doubt that the ICE version will save you money in the long run, unless 99% of your trips are under 63km . But the drive is soooooo much better in the PHEV .

    Pre-facelift HS - common problems

The only annoyance is the flat spot at 80kmh when in pure EV mode . Otherwise it’s a fantastic car and great value for money . The 360 camera and sunroof are worth the extra money for the trophy spec.

PHEV buyers remorse - and I've not yet got it! Please advise.

You will love it ! If you are already used to the slightly clunky MG infotainment system , you will find that the PHeV has superior acceleration to the 1.5 petrol . The only thing you will find annoying is the flat spot in acceleration at around 70-80kmh in pure EV mode due to a gear change ...

    Front parking sensors

My front parking sensors are called EYES. Very easy to use with the 360 camera .

    HV battery shut off

It happened to me today when I was opening the sunroof before full boot of the computer - maybe related to a voltage drop ?

MG HS PHEV mpg/range with battery depleted / Engine only

The car is often marketed as 1.7l/100kms - which is true for the first 100km because you are running on battery for the first 63km . After that I get around 7l/100km on petrol alone . Which isn’t bad at all , considering that’s what my Golf Mk6 did !

So dangerous gearbox gap in acceleration.

Annoying ? Yes ! Dangerous - well I’m not so sure. Once you get used to it , you can anticipate it . Early DSG gearbox drivers had the similar lag issues , but they got over it .

    fuel tank cap

I assume you followed the refueling procedure in the manual - right ? The cap is tighter than older cars as the new emissions standards require containing the fumes . It’s a problem if your hands are weak or arthritic.

    HV battery shut off

Always fixed by the bill gates solution- power off and on .

EV mode keeps dropping out on MG HS PHEV

Is your recharge set to high low or auto ? On long trips mine pretty much drains the battery to zero when set to auto .

EV mode keeps dropping out on MG HS PHEV

Downhill also charges your battery and if it’s too much charge or the battery is full , regen switches off and the car defaults to the ICE to slow you down .

12V battery low warning light HS PHEV

The fact that there is a voltage reading in the car dashboard means there is a Battery Management system in place . Perhaps it’s a BMS fault ? Practically, though it’s easiest to test by replacing the battery .
