charging
A charging station, also called an EV charger or electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE), is a piece of equipment that supplies electrical power for charging plug-in electric vehicles (including hybrids, neighborhood electric vehicles, trucks, buses, and others).
Although batteries can only be charged with DC power, most electric vehicles have an onboard AC-to-DC converter that allows them to be plugged into a standard household AC electrical receptacle. Inexpensive low-power public charging stations will also provide AC power, known as "AC charging stations". To facilitate higher power charging, which requires much larger AC-to-DC converters, the converter is built into the charging station instead of the vehicle, and the station supplies already-converted DC power directly to the vehicle, bypassing the vehicle's onboard converter. These are known as "DC charging stations". Most fully electric car models can accept both AC and DC power.
Charging stations provide connectors that conform to a variety of standards. DC charging stations are commonly equipped with multiple connectors to be able to supply a wide variety of vehicles.
Public charging stations are typically found street-side or at retail shopping centers, government facilities, and other parking areas.
Hi Folks,
I've had my MG 4 red Exclusive (Trophy) for 2.5 months. Absolutely love the car but for one annoyance - scheduling charging.
Tried all sorts to no avail so I called my MG dealer, they put me through to an engineer and problem solved.
He told me clear the cache in the app, log out/log...
Here's his latest:
I destination charged at a hotel over the weekend, instead of going to a nearby Tesla Supercharger. It was so convenient and the price I was charged wasn't too bad (57p/kWh) so I was happy to pay for the convenience. Meant I left with 100% and no need to stop until I got...
I couldn't charge at a gridserve high power charger today on an M5 service station. I got the yellow triangle on the dash which suggests the charger wasn't compatible. I had the same issue at a Tesla charger and since realised these don't work on an MGZS EV. It worked on an ols style charger...
So, having had a helluva day escaping the gravitational pull of Cornwall full of tourists and making it back to the midlands in a mere 7 hours(!!), with 2 charges on the way, rather than sitting in a hotel room planning our journey back tomorrow ( and sleeping of which there will be plenty) we...
OK, so here's the scenario: I'm on the 'Octopus Go' tariff, (which gives cheaper rate electricity between 0030 and 0430) and I have a waEV EV1 charger (waEV-charge EV1 | waEV-charge | EV Charging Solutions for Housebuilders, Developers, Landlords & Homeowners). The charger has a 'smart...
Anyone had the EVCC Module updated / replaced to allow to charge at open Tesla charge points in their Mk 1 ZS's
I'm waiting on my dealership to take ours back in to 'remedy' a few warranty issues & to address our charging concerns - Dealership is being helpful so fingers crossed ... Just...
Hi all, looking for some help!
I have a 2021 MG5 EV and have a podpoint installed at my property. I have had no issues until recently, when trying to charge, it will keep clicking on and off, as it is trying to connect for charge. I looked on my podpoint app, and it states it is fully charged...

MG 4 Trophy Charging Issues: Rapid Drop in Charge Percentage at Supercharger
Last week, when charging my MG 4 Trophy at a Tesla Supercharger, I arrived with 15% battery and charged up to 35%...
Just wondered what the fastest rate people have used on the ZS. I'm currently at a MFG charged which boasts at up to 150kW.
I've been monitoring it and it peaked at around 45kW now it's dropped to 37.
Not a complaint as I didn't have much waiting around to go from 48 to 80%.
Is the rate...
Hi all,
Hopefully you can advise.
My wife has just bought a second hand 23 plate trophy long range. She is still in her cooling off period.
I have an ev charger at home but the mg does not seem to want to charge correctly. It seems to want to randomly stop and start regardless of when I set...
Hi all,
Just bought a used MG5 LR, '71 plate (October registered) with 28,000 miles. I've covered a few trips around town but am driving around 300 miles from Devon to Doncaster this weekend, planning to stick at 70mph as much as possible Obviously I'm going to need to charge about halfway...
Hi all,
I have had a great couple of days owning MGs. Both cars went completely flat. Personally I think there is a design fault with the charging. Has anyone else had similar issues?
One car is an MG4 EV and the other is an MG ZS EV, both 2023 plate.
The only change on my part is that I have...
Hi everyone,
My late 2020 ZS EV (60.000 km/37.200 miles and 8.8% battery degradation) has started to charge with erratic charging speeds on my three-phase 22 kW home charger, starting off with 6.7 kW and then suddenly going down to 2.3-2.0 kW.
I tried various cables and other cars like my...
Charged my MG4 yesterday from 37% to 100% but after a couple of hours I lost the FAST charge and it resorted to a 1.4 incoming charge from the normal 7.1.
I tried again and the same thing happened.
This morning I've plugged in again and so far (1/2 hour) it seems fine again.
The only thing i...
Hello Everyone,
I hope that you're all well. I'm a new MG4 owner. I've got a second hand MG4 Trophy, with an 'Evmore' brand type 2 charging cable from Amazon.
I don't know if I'm just being weapons grade thick, but I cannot get Source chargers to charge me at all. I plug the type 2 cable into...
I don't have solar, but I see in the latest OHME beta app that there is now a setting to switch it on. Not sure if this has been posted before, but I hadn't seen it.
From the help it appears that it will switch to solar charging if the available solar exceeds half the minimum 1.44 kW required...
