Not that I'm looking to change my 12v battery for a while but reading many posts on here, made me think a bit.

Coming from the marine and leisure (motorhomes and caravans) industries, we use "starter" batteries and leisure/domestic batteries. Both have different characteristics in how they behave and what they're each designed to do in a 12v system.

Looking at an old thread 12 Volt Battery, the battery in question has a CCA of 530A. Fair enough if you're trying to turn over and start an ICE engine and this is what I'd call a "starter" battery.

As there's no CCA required in an EV, why are MG (and others?) using starter and not Leisure type batteries? Surely they'd be better off fitting the latter? This article, one of many on the web, highlights the difference between the two types Everything you need to know about caravan and… | Lifesure Group.

I know, when the time does come, what type of battery I'd be looking at ;) .
