Driving to work the other day stopped for a coffee when I got back to the car it would not engage gear.
The 12v battery warning light was on and the car was showing vehicle control system vault
Also showing connection not recognised with a picture of a charging cable.
When the AA finally arrived he tried a booster pack no joy put on his scanner which said unknown fault ( that was very helpful )
He tested the 12v battery and said it was dead and would need replacing and the car would need recovery.
When the recovery truck arrived I phoned the nearest MG dealership where it just had a service and mot.
They said sorry can’t take the car in we overrun with cars at the moment and can’t even look at it till 28th next month and it would cost £250 just to plug it in to the computer.
So we had to be recovered home it was late n the evening by this point.
Next day got car booked in at another dealership for this Friday and it’s only £140 to plug in and test .
But the AA will not take it to the dealership they where told by MG head office not to because it was recovered home and not the dealership I explained what happened they just not bothered.
So I am have to pay to get the car to the garage
It’s strange this has happened just after the service I am thinking a update gone wrong let’s see if MG will honour the warranty I am beginning to regret choosing MG

So, has the 12V battery been replaced? Sounds like that's worth doing (as it needs doing anyway) before paying a dealer to do it for you and charge you £140 + their over-inflated prices + the cost of getting it there.

My OH has used Tayna batteries (on-line) many times successfully for next day delivery.

Yes 12v replaced still the same the same issue

Did you leave the 12 volt battery disconnected for 10 minutes or so to clear any faults?
This is known here as the 10mm spanner fix.
Disconnect 12 volt battery go and have a cuppa, go back reconnect battery and see if the car works.
good luck
Pete
